Welcome to March!

I want to honor all the trailblazing women I know as we celebrate "International Women's Day" this month. We are made up of courageous, inspirational, motivational and fierce women who have the ability to make positive changes. We rock!!

I can't help bring this up, but we get to go 'Mad for Plaid' the whole month too. And, while we wear all our plaid outfits, we will celebrate "Optimism Month". I wonder if someone made up this date to celebrate the fact we had such a L-O-N-G winter. Last month, the groundhog did not see his shadow...and I'm looking forward to an early Spring!

Speaking of looking forward to something - I'm not big on losing an hour for Daylight Savings time, but I am huge on seeing more daylight, how about you?

More celebrations this month:
  • Mad for Plaid Month
  • National Noodle Month
  • March 3 - Simplify Your Life Day
  • March 8 - International Women's Day
  • March 8 - Daylight Savings
  • March 17 - St. Patrick's Day
  • March 19 - First Day of Spring
Enjoy the month!
Will Your Stuff Fit When You Move?

Before you shop for a new home, I want you to keep something in mind. Most buyers think about the neighbourhood they want to live in, the proximity to schools for their kids, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate everyone, and let's not forget the size of the kitchen. And while these are all important considerations, there is one question that few buyers ask until it’s too late.

This may seem like a trivial concern. But, if you’ve invested thousands of dollars in a new living room set, you’re going to be very disappointed if it looks too crowded in your new home. Trust me, I'm buying all new furniture for my home.

Here’s a tip from Sarah - Measure rooms in your current home that contain the furniture you like most. This could be the living room, rec room, master bedroom or even the patio. Then imagine how much smaller - if at all - that room could be while still accommodating the furniture.

When you view properties on the market, take those measurements with you. That way, you’ll be able to quickly determine if room sizes are going to be an issue.

Best Buffalo Chicken Salad

1 cup buffalo sauce
2 tbsp. honey
Juice of 1 lime
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
Kosher salt & Freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup freshly chopped parsley
2 tbsp. freshly chopped dill
2 tbsp. freshly chopped chives
1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1/2 tsp. onion powder
Pinch of cayenne pepper

4 cup chopped romaine
2 cup baby spinach
2 stalks celery, sliced
1 carrot, cut into matchsticks
1 Persian cucumber, cut into half moons
1 avocado, sliced
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
1 cup halved cherry tomatoes
3/4 cup blue cheese crumbles

  • Make the chicken: In a large bowl, combine buffalo sauce, honey, lime juice, garlic powder, and onion powder. Season with salt and pepper. Reserve ⅓ cup marinade. Add chicken to remaining marinade and toss to coat. Let marinate 30 minutes at room temperature. Or cover and refrigerate for up to 2 hours.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Remove chicken from marinade, letting as much marinade drip off as possible, and add to skillet. Cook until golden, 6 minutes, then flip and brush chicken with reserved marinade. Continue cooking until no longer pink, 6 to 8 minutes more. Place on a cutting board and let rest 5 minutes, then slice into strips.
  • Meanwhile, make the dressing: In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk. Add remaining ingredients and stir until combined. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Assemble salad: In a large bowl, toss together romaine, spinach, celery, carrots, cucumber, avocado, red onion, tomatoes, and blue cheese crumbles. Top with chicken and drizzle with dressing just before serving.
