Create with AI, Seminar by Nao Tokui

12月14日 (火) 、弊社代表の徳井直生著『創るためのAI—機械と創造性のはてしない物語』(BNN) が、2021年度の大川出版賞を受賞をしたことを記念した特別オンラインセミナーを開催しました。Q&Aセッションでは、視聴者の皆様からAIが拡張する創造性の未来について多くのご質問をいただき、非常に盛況でした。セミナーの内容について、本ニュースレターをご覧の方へアーカイブを限定公開いたします。こちらよりご覧ください。（Youtube動画へリンクします）

Qosmo CEO Nao Tokui’s first book on AI and creativity won Okawa Publication Award 2021 and we held the seminar to commemorate it on December 14. We had a Q&A session with the audience and discussed the future of extending creativity with AI.

The Year 2121：Futures In-Sight

2021年12月21日より21_21 DESIGN SIGHTにて開催される「2121年 Futures In-Sight」展にQosmoが参加します。本展覧会では、朝日新聞社メディア研究開発センターとのコラボレーションによる新作を展示します。今回の作品では「未来たちをどのように想像することができるか？」をテーマに、過去30年のテキストデータを学習したAIがいくつかの未来を仮定し、それぞれの未来で使われているかもしれない架空の言葉を生成、その意味を定義します。言葉という断片から鑑賞者の解釈によって多様な未来たちを想像させることを試みます。ぜひお越しください。

会期：2021年12月21日（火）- 2022年5月8日（日）
会場：21_21 DESIGN SIGHTギャラリー1＆2
休館日：火曜日（12月21日、5月3日は開館）、年末年始（12月28日 - 1月4日）
開館時間：10:00-19:00（入場は18:30まで）*入場予約制の可能性あり
入館料：一般1,200円、大学生800円、高校生500円、中学生以下無料

Qosmo will participate in "The Year 2121: Futures In-Sight" opening on December 21 2021. We will collaborate with The Asahi Shimbun Company Media R&D Center at this exhibition. Our work “Imaginary Dictionary” is a dictionary consisting only of words and their meaning that may be used in the future. In this work, an AI that has learned from newspaper article data of the past 30 years generates new words and their meanings derived from several possibilities of the future. Various "futures" are woven from the fragments of words.

NeurIPS Workshop 2021

機会学習における最大規模の国際学会NeurIPSのワークショップ「Machine Learning for Creativity and Design」のArt Showの中で、Qosmoの実験的なオーディオビジュアルを探求するウェブプラットフォーム「Unsettled Music」が紹介されました。また、最新のアップデートではインタラクティブな機能を追加しました。それぞれの作品ページを開くと、サウンドとビジュアルの "不確実さ" の度合いを変更できます。こちらから、生成されるサウンドとビジュアルの違いをお楽しみください！

Our platform Unsettled Music has been selected for a display at Art Show as part of NeurIPS Workshop 2021, Machine Learning for Creativity and Design. It is now interactive upon the latest update. For each experiment, you can adjust the level of Unsettledness – the sounds and the visuals will adapt accordingly. Try it here!

LIFE3.0──人工知能時代に人間であるということ / マックス・テグマーク (水谷淳訳)
ハードウェア・ソフトウェア共に進化のプロセスによって規定された生命がLife 1.0、新しい言葉やスポーツを覚えられる人間のように自らのソフトウェアをデザインできるのがLife 2.0だとした時に、ハードウェアをも改変できる存在をLife 3.0と呼び、超知能的AIのLife 3.0としての実現性を真面目に考えた一冊。いわゆるシンギュラリティや超知能の可能性について、非現実的だとしてこれまであまり真剣に考えてこなかったが、この本の多面的な検証を通して、現時点からその可能性について考えることの重要性を痛感した。超知能が生まれたときに、どのように太陽系の外宇宙をも開拓しうるか、という壮大な思考実験なども面白い。SF小説『三体』ファンにもおすすめしたい。（徳井）

Life 3.0: Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence / Max Tegmark
Life 1.0 is the life defined by the natural evolutionary process of both hardware and software, and Life 2.0 is the life that can design its own software like human beings who can learn a new language or sport. This book seriously considers the feasibility of superintelligent AI as Life 3.0, the life that can also design its hardware.
I have not given much serious thought to the possibility of a so-called singularity or super-intelligence because I thought it was unrealistic. Through the multifaceted examination in this book, however, I realized the importance of thinking about it from the present. I'm also amazed by the scale of a thought experiment in the book, where the author contemplates how superintelligent AI can explore and conquer the deep space outside of our solar system. I would recommend this book to fans of the science fiction novel "The Three-Body Problem." (Nao)

Art of Freedom: The Life and Climbs of Voytek Kurtyka / Bernadette McDonald
Voytek Kurtyka remains one of the greatest alpinists of all time. He was one of the leading lights of the Polish golden age of Himalayan climbing. His visionary alpine-style approach to climbing resulted in many renowned ascents, inspiring generations of climbers around the world. The book looks back on Voytek’s achievements which elevated the pursuit of freedom in mountain climbing to the level of an art form. (Akira)
