New member - Akira Shibata

10月から、最高執行責任者としてシバタアキラが参画しました。データ・AI活用によるビジネス価値の創出を専門分野とし、起業家・データサイエンティストとして数百社に及ぶ国内外企業におけるデータ・AI活用に携わった他、物理学博士の研究者としてCERNでヒッグス粒子発見に貢献した経歴の持ち主です。
Qosmoでは今後の事業成長戦略を構築・実行し、またテクニカルディレクターとして各プロジェクトへ貢献していきます。新メンバー含め、コラボレーターのみなさまやクライアントのみなさまと共創していくことを楽しみにしております。よろしくお願いします！

Akira Shibata joined Qosmo as COO in October. He specializes in business value creation using data and AI technologies as an Entrepreneur, Data Scientist & PhD in Particle Physics. In addition to building statistical modes for the Higgs Boson discovery at LHC particle accelerator, he was experienced in leading hundreds of global companies to succeed with data and AI. 
He will be in charge of planning and executing business growth strategy as well as technical direction of individual projects. We are looking forward to working with our collaborators and clients, including new members!

Nao's book won the 2021 Okawa Publication Award

弊社代表の徳井直生著『創るためのAI—機械と創造性のはてしない物語』(BNN) が、情報・通信分野に関する優れた図書として、2021年度の大川出版賞を受賞しました。AIがもたらす創造性の拡張について、多くの実例や作品をもとにその未来像を明らかにしたことが高く評価されました。12月14日 (火) 18:00~ 受賞を記念した徳井による特別オンライン講演を開催します。詳細はこちら。

Qosmo CEO, Nao Tokui’s first book on AI and creativity won Okawa Publication Award 2021. His ambitious work was highly praised for revealing. AI’s potential in human creative endeavors and demystify the concept of “creativity” itself. The book is being translated into English. 

Unsettled Music #3 - Negative Space

Qosmoで取り組んでいる音楽・グラフィックス・機械学習などを組み合わせて実装した小作品を、数週間ごとに紹介するプラットフォーム「Unsettled Music」。第三弾「Negative Space」は余白の概念に着目し、機械学習モデルで圧縮した動物の鳴き声のうち、アルゴリズムによって廃棄される"余り"として判断された高い周波数のサウンドを再構築しています。ビジュアルではその音波を可視化しています。

 “Unsettled Music” is a series of web experiments dedicated to showcasing some of our creative research on music, graphics, and machine learning. We will release a new iteration every few weeks. The 3rd iteration "Negative Space" is an experiment around the reconstruction of absence. After compressing recordings of animal sounds through a machine learning model, we extracted a substantial residue of higher frequencies, deemed worthless by the algorithm. The visuals reflect the sound waves.

10月22日 (金) 〜 10月27日 (水) に開催された日本最大級のデザイン＆アートの祭典「DESIGNART TOKYO 2021」にて、Dentsu Lab Tokyoと共同で立ち上げたテキスタイルレーベル「UNLABELED」が新作展示会『Camouflage Against the Machines』を開催しました。QosmoはAIに人として認識されにくくなるカモフラージュ柄生成システムの開発を担当。 本展示では、同迷彩柄を使ったパーカーやスケートボードなどアパレルブランドNEXUSⅦ.との限定コラボ商品の販売の他、デザインコンセプトを表現する新たなインタラクティブインスタレーション作品「LABELING EYE」を公開しました。

UNLABELED, a textile label launched in collaboration with Dentsu Lab Tokyo, was held at a new exhibition, "Camouflage Against the Machines" at DESIGNART TOKYO 2021, one of the largest design and art festivals in Japan during October 22 (Fri) ~ October 27 (Wed). Qosmo developed a camouflage pattern generation system that prevents AI from detecting humans. In addition to the sale of limited collaboration products with the brand NEXUSⅦ. including hoodies and skateboards using the camouflage patterns, a new interactive installation work "LABELING EYE" was unveiled to express the design concept.
