I've heard that practice makes perfect, practice makes permanent, practice helps with muscle memory, we learn by practice... and much more wisdom.
However you phrase it, practice makes sense.
On a recent grocery store trip, I found myself practicing, rehearsing, reciting the words I'd use when I thanked the deli manager for making my order. It sounds simple and perhaps silly; I wanted to hear the words in my head first before I said them out loud. I wanted to convey the message I intended and not a different one. I wanted to express appreciation and kindness and needed to ensure my tone and voice and words were aligned with that sentiment.
I practice all the time. I practice my words, my tone, my facial expressions, my body language. Then, when it's 'showtime,' I'm ready - my body and face and tongue all know what to do. And if they don't, I practice some more :)
Practice makes sense - use your sense to practice.
