Lauren Singh, MPH joins Buehler Center

Lauren received her Masters of Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis. She has been in a variety of research assistant roles working on various projects including those surrounding the topic of malnutrition which required her to live in Ghana and Malawi. She started working at Northwestern in the Department of Infectious Disease where she worked on the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study (MACS). She is excited for her new role at the Buehler Center as Research Project Manager where she can incorporate her public health background into the work of health policy and economics. Welcome Lauren!

Celebrating International Women's Day 2020
How did we get from here...

The five (of six) female Democratic candidates – Senator Amy Klobuchar, Representative Tulsi Gabbard, Senator Kristen Gillibrand, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Senator Kamala Harris – were captured by famed portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz.

...to here?
All female Democratic candidates aside from Representative Tulsi Gabbard, have dropped out of the 2020 Presidential Race. Senator Elizabeth Warren's exit from the presidential race was a bitter disappointment not only to her supporters, but to all of those hoping she would become the nation's first female president. Warren's departure leaves two white men in their late 70s as the last major candidates standing in the Democratic primary, battling to defeat President Trump, another white man in his 70s.
“I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.”

Sunday, March 8 is International Women’s Day – a day of action to celebrate, inspire, and work towards a future of gender equality. According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2020, None of us will see gender parity in our lifetimes, and nor likely will many of our children. That’s the sobering finding of the Global Gender Gap Report 2020, which reveals that gender parity will not be attained for 99.5 years. We use International Women’s Day each year to highlight this vital issue and to encourage everyone, from individuals to organizations, to declare actions they will take to help improve and speed up progress around the world.
