January can be one of the most challenging months of the school year. The excitement from the holidays is over, and the snow and cold weather still remain.Try creating a free GoNoodle account to entertain your students on those many inside recess days. GoNoodle uses a class avatar that can be upgraded as your students complete class challenges together.

GoNoodle features core curriculum, holiday themed activities, SEL and mindfulness resources, motor skills and more with zero prep time to help fight the winter blues.
January is a time to focus on goals and the future. With this in mind, teaching mental and physical health to our students is critical for their future success. The UEN website has links to the complete Prevention Dimensions curriculum, which is a free resource available to every teacher in the state of Utah.

Lessons include making smart choices, time management, dealing with peer pressure, substance abuse prevention and more. There are also songs, videos, and training documents available.
This month's UCET coalition partner and someone-to-follow feature is UELMA. The mission of  the Utah Educational Library Media Association, or UELMA, is to "provide professional support, leadership, and enrichment for school library media personnel and those who support library programs." (source)

UELMA and UCET are frequent partners. Librarians are often at the forefront of emerging technologies and an essential source of informational literacy skills. UELMA president Michele Edgley is going to be featured on January's episode of the UCET podcast and the UELMA conference will be upcoming on March 10th, 2023.
