Giving Season Issue

Give The Gift Of Togetherness

‘Tis the season of giving. And that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you see a friend or loved one open a gift you picked just for them — well, that’s hard to match. It’s in these moments of connection, we remember it really is better to give than to receive.

If you’re still looking for the perfect (and thought-provoking), light-their-eyes-up present, gift the gal pal, mom, sister, or co-worker a special three-month Salon membership with our limited edition artist-designed journal!

Or, treat them (and yourself) to some self-care with a Women Be Well package for our 2023 wellness series in collaboration with Sneha Yoga & Wellness Collective.

No matter which you choose, you’ll get the opportunity to introduce them to the Salon community and enjoy quality time with Pittsburgh’s most vibrant women.

Because there’s no better gift than togetherness.

Happy gifting!

The Salon is a place to dabble in the unknown. We provide an admittedly eclectic (but community-led!) range of programming. One week, it might be an academic discussing the gender pay gap. Next, it might be wine tasting and hipster puzzles. Indulge in new things with us! And if it makes you a bit nervous, that might be a good thing. Find out for yourself what we’re all about.

As an adult, the author works to repair his family and make sense of himself now that the party is over. Join us to talk about critical themes and plot points, listen to others’ thoughts, and share our own impressions and opinions. No worries if you don’t finish the book or haven’t been part of the Book Circle until now — you can jump in at any time. Register here!

There’s still time to buy tickets to this Saturday’s “Nutcracker For a Difference” by Confluence Ballet. 🩰 Taking place at Strayhorn Theatre in East Liberty, the holiday classic with a twist will feature jazz and blues music, contemporary dance, and a majority-female company with an all-female cast of dancers — except for the Cavalier. It will also bring awareness to two local charities: Pittsburgh Musical Theater and Hello Neighbor. 🎄

The City of Pittsburgh is still looking for snow angels to assist older residents and those with disabilities with snow removal on their sidewalks and driveways.☃️Areas with the most need include Brighton Heights, Brookline, and Carrick — but you can help in any neighborhood you live in. You can now find PGH Candle’s popular hand-poured, soy wax candles 🕯at the brand’s first brick-and-mortar on the North Side. Owner Kayla Heffernan cut the ribbon on the flagship shop in November. Stop by for holiday-scented candles as well as giftables from other local brands. 🎁

Need to snag some last-minute presents? 🛍️ Head to Spirit in Lawrenceville this Sunday from 11am to 5pm for their annual Made & Found Holiday Market to shop stationary, small-batch ceramics, and home decor from local makers. 🙌

And on the North Side, check out the Queer Qrafty Qarnival 🌈 at the QMNTY center from 12 to 6pm. Browse food, arts, crafts, gifts, and more. Just remember to bring a $5 donation or a shelf-stable food item to enter. 💜
