Dear friends,
As the endless (cold) spring is coming to an end, we're welcoming summer back into our lives. With restrictions being somewhat softened, there are many opportunities to meet each other again and share/create new memories.

June is Pride Month and we have a lot in store for all of you! We are having brand-new partnership with Luxair which is marking a new era for improving LGBTIQ+ life for employees, travellers and the local community alike. Furthermore, with the Luxembourg Pride 2021 officially announced, more details are to be expected soon!

Enjoy reading and best regards,
the board of Rosa Lëtzebuerg

You've probably already seen it in the news and on social media: as of today, there is a Luxair plane in Pride colours!

As the oldest organisation in Luxembourg dedicated to the fight for the rights of the local LGBTIQ+ community, Rosa Lëtzebuerg asbl is proud of its partnership with Luxair.
We are delighted that Luxair has taken the initiative to consult with us in last few weeks to not only reinforce the company's policy on acceptance of queer employees through discussions and workshops, but also to implement various approaches to improve customer service.

Furthermore, with a plane that will be visible in the Pride colours in Luxembourg and abroad for several weeks, a visible sign will be given for the opening of the company as well as of Luxembourg.

Rosa Lëtzebuerg was invited to an official meeting with the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Mr. Casey K. Mace on the 17th of May in light of the IDAHOBIT 2021 to evaluate to current state of the LGBTIQ+ community in Luxembourg. Many topics such as the LTGBIQ-free zones, hate speech and lack of safe spaces (especially due to the massive impact that the Covid19-pandemic has had on the local community) have been discussed. The U.S.A. ambassey wants to get more involved with local LGBTIQ+ matters and a closer collaboration is envisioned with Rose Lëtzebuerg. Other ambasseys will also be included in the upcoming discussions.

After a meeting in August 2020 between Rosa Lëtzebuerg, the Croix Rouge and the ALEM (Luxembourgish Medical Student's Association) on the issue of the blood donation ban for homosexual men, something has now changed.

Since the first of January, the Croix Rouge has adapted its questionnaire, which must be filled out by the donor when donating blood. The questionnaire now only asks whether a person (male or female) has had sexual intercourse with a man who has had sexual intercourse with another man in the 12 months preceding the blood donation. If the answer is positive, the person concerned is now advised to donate blood plasma.

This plasma would then be kept in quarantine for 4 months until another test of the donor confirms that there are no STIs.

From our point of view, this is not yet satisfying, but it is at least a first step. At least homosexual men are no longer categorically excluded, instead the Croix Rouge goes for an abstinence rule of 12 months.

Rosa Lëtzebuerg will remain in discussions with the Croix Rouge.

This year our association celebrates its 25th birthday. Due to Covid19, we will be celebrating later this year with a Séance Académique. For this occasion, we would like to invite our members to share their experiences and stories about our organisation in order to document the history of Rosa. Especially the founding years would be of great interest to us, but later periods are also very welcome.

Do you have pictures, videos or objects that you associate with Rosa Lëtzebuerg? Or would you even like to contribute in the form of interviews or as a member of the working group? Then we would be very happy to hear from you! Just contact us at
