Dear Friends,

We are a little late with our New Year's wishes, but we still want to catch up: All the best in the New Year!
We wish you and your loved ones only the best!

The fact that we are so late, however, is largely due to the fact that we had no reason to be bored. We had a lot of meetings during the last two months, which were dedicated to the projects of Rosa Lëtzebuerg and the preparations for the Luxembourg Pride Week. Our working meetings with the Ministry of the Family were particularly enjoyable and extremely fruitful. Together with the Ministry, we want to tackle the problem of the lack of safe spaces with a larger project and at the same time we want to provide more spaces for queer culture in all its facets. The meeting with Ms Calteux, head of the EU Commission's Representation in Luxembourg, was also very pleasant. Our cooperation will be further developed this year.

Furthermore, the Pride Week is approaching with great strides. In the last few weeks, we have been able to visit a number of locations for the various events for the Pride Week and we have also discussed the progress and worked on the concrete implementation of our ideas with the responsible persons from Esch2022 , the city of Esch and other partners in several meetings. It is also thanks to the city of Esch that we can present you with a huge surprise for this year's Pride, but more about that in our next newsletter.

In addition, the ILGA Annual Report also published the situation of the LGBTIQ+ community during the year 2021. In this annual exercise, Rosa Lëtzebuerg asbl was once again as national representative in charge of the Luxembourg Chapter. You can find the full report here.

Currently our working group is working on the update of the Luxembourg contribution to the ILGA Europe Rainbow Index, whereby it can already be said that there has been little to no perceptible change in the last 12 months, so that Luxembourg will most probably slip to 4th place in the European ranking. This is not least due to the significant efforts of Denmark, which has now already advanced to second place, but also due to the fact that no new laws have been passed at the political level.

Enjoy reading and best regards,
the board of Rosa Lëtzebuerg

For more than two weeks now, Putin's troops have been waging a fierce war of aggression in Ukraine. The devastating effects, especially on civil society, cause us serious concern, especially for our friends from the LGBTIQ+ community.

Rosa Lëtzebuerg asbl has, within our possibilities, made a donation of 250€ to the EPOA Aid Campaign. In this context, we explicitly welcome the efforts of the European Pride Organizers Association to pass on this aid fund to Kyiv Pride and Kharkiv Pride. These two organisations are among the largest LGBTIQ+ organisations in Ukraine, which directly support queer people in the field with the aid funds of over 42,500€ so far. ILGA Europe has now also set up a page listing other ways to help as well as a guide for the protection for queer people in Ukraine.

Great connections have been made, among others with the Hörgeschädigten Beratung SmH (Hearing Impaired Counselling).

The Nuits de la Culture will take place on Friday evening from 16:00 to 01:00 and on Saturday from 09:00 at various locations around the Parc du Clair-Chêne and the Escher Kafé.

We would also like to thank all our queer artists who promised us a great weekend, here is a list of all these events:

After the Les TransCulturel festival merged with the GayMat Street Festival into a Luxembourg Pride Week in the past, we want to take the opportunity in 2022 to set up a new festival dedicated to art and all its disciplines.

With a jump start due to the participation in the European Year of Culture program of Esch2022, we want to establish this Queer Art Festival as a Biennial (every two years) in the future program of the Luxembourg Pride and invite art enthusiasts from all over Europe to Luxembourg.
In and around our Pride Headquarters at Batiment IV, which will be open to everyone throughout Luxembourg Pride Week, the public will have the opportunity to discover the work of local queer artists at the Queer Arts Festival from 1 to 3 July.

Are you an artist from the queer community or do you deal with queer topics in your art as an ally and would like to present your work to a broad audience?
Then get in touch with us so that the Pride Headquarters is bursting with creativity on the first weekend in July!

OPEN CALL: Photoshooting "Together"
by Anne-Sophie Guillet

In her works, Anne-Sophie is focusing on series that invites us to interrogate ourselves on the roles and appearances in society and in our relationships with each other. By taking portraits of individuals whose identity slips out of the 'norm' the society prevails, Anne-Sophie attempts to question our binary and normative society. A previosu series called the "Inner Self" raises questions on gender issues and perceptions. The new serie "Together" it is suggested that we change our attitude and perception on various relationships types including love, sexual, friendships and with ourselves. The social injunction imposes itself as an established norm with its heteronormative codes in our lives and in our relationships with others. Today, each individual creates their own model in order to find the best way that resonates with their soul. The people that agreed to pose for the series live their relationships outside of the romantic love pattern. All of the individuals are either  lovers, in polyamory relationships, trans or non binary peers, into non labeled relationships, the spectrum is large and does not stop to that, it is only to name a few examples.
