Dear friends,

The summer is now over, the schools have started again and we also have a Rentrée, Covid19-compatible of course. After a memorable Pride alternative, the Luxembourg Online Pride, which demanded a lot from all of us, we had some time to make up for lost time in our other projects. So in the weeks following Pride, we held a number of working groups and web conferences. Among other things, we are working in a working group with other organisations from the Grand Region on the processing of queer victims during the Nazi occupation.

After the Pride is before the Pride! Therefore we are currently working on the organisation of our second barcamp! Are you interested in helping to shape the Pride? Then feel invited! But also our annual general assembly is coming up again! We are looking forward to seeing you again! Finally, we would like to congratulate two colleagues from our board of directors: our treasurer Kevin Theisen, who as a travesty artist under the name of Stella Urinella and member of the Fadas Familly, won the "DRAG AGAINST AIDS" competition on 1st August and will be the face of prevention education during the next year as Miss Drag Queen Luxembourg 2020.

Our respect also goes to Jan Berlo, who from RTL Lëtzebuerg has given very intimate insights on his way to himself. The resulting documentary is a unique and enlightening testimony of his time.

Enjoy reading and best regards,
the board of Rosa Lëtzebuerg

http://www.luxembourgpride.lu/merci/

One year ago, we called for our first barcamp to kick off the planning phase for Luxembourg Pride 2020. Many of you followed our invitation and have become indispensable for our team until today! We want to repeat this experiment from last year!

So take note for Sunday, 11 October 2020! You are cordially invited! From 09:30 to 18:00 we want to get to know each other better in workshops and brainstorming sessions and give you the opportunity to actively participate in the planning for 2021!

In order to be able to comply with all the usual protective measures during the Covid19 crisis, we have therefore rented a large multi-purpose hall, so that adequate distance is guaranteed at all times.
To ensure that everyone gets their place, a registration is necessary.

SURVEY

In the last newsletter we asked you your opinion and to participate in our online survey. Your opinion about our organization and the local LGBTIQ+ scene is very important to us. With horror we had to realize that the scene had decreased a lot in the last decade, fortunately we see a revival of our community since a few years. We want to do our absolute best to strengthen our community in the long run, and to achieve this we want to make sure that our work is done in the right way and that we pay attention to your wishes and needs. Therefore, your opinion counts to shape the future of the LGBTIQ+ community in Luxembourg.

You can find the survey in German, English and French and also update your Membership Information here:  http://rosa-letzebuerg.lu/members

Read this article in german, french

This year's edition of DRAG AGAINST AIDS was somewhat different from the first edition. It often had to be postponed for various reasons. Also because of Corona-Bitch! A long period coming to an end, the grand finale took place on the first of August 2020. The proceeds of this event will go to the HIV/AIDS prevention of Croix Rouge Luxembourg and
STOP AIDS NOW/ACCESS.

Ma Dame Yoko, the first Miss Drag Queen Luxembourg, leads together with Séraphine Mirage through a successful evening full of excitement and thrilling tasks prepared by the different drag queens. The carefully selected jury, together with the live audience, then chose the winner 2020: Stella Urinella is now the reigning Miss Drag Queen Luxembourg 2020 and we would like to conDRAGulate her once again.

Jan is 21 years old and a member of the Board of Rosa Lëtzebuerg. He feels like a man, but was born a girl. His old name is still written on his identity card. Since he started taking testosterone, his voice and body have changed. But he also wants to have an operation. The date for this major operation in a clinic near Hamburg has already been fixed. In the documentary film "Fräi Schwammen. Gebuer am falschen Kierper" a camera team from RTL Lëtzebuerg accompanied Jan on his way to himself and shows the small and big steps that are necessary in the run-up to the operation.

A film by Serge Pauly and Anouk Siebenaler. Camera: Mike Elsen & Pedro Venancio. Editing: Claude Grosch.
The documentary was shown on RTL Lëtzebuerg on 1 October and has been available in replay since then.
