Dear Friends,
The leaves are falling and autumn has arrived. We would like to thank once again all who were present at our annual Rosa Lëtzebuerg Summer Party! It was a very wonderful atmosphere.

In recent weeks, Rosa Lëtzebuerg has participated in a number of important works. For example, representatives of our political working group participated in a hearing with the ECRI delegation of the European Commission on the evaluation of Luxembourg on September 15. Furthermore, our political working group delivered a report related to the situation of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) in Luxembourg in the framework of the UN Periodic Review.

In addition, a delegation of Rosa Lëtzebuerg absl participated in the Annual General Meeting of EPOA, where, among other things, Lisbon was designated as the host city for Europride in 2025.

We hope you enjoy reading and cordially invite you to our monthly Queer After Work on October 26 at 19.00 in the Tube Bar in Luxembourg City.

Enjoy reading and best regards,
the board of Rosa Lëtzebuerg

As you probably know, there is still a risk of infection by monkeypox. We would like to refer you to the website of the Ministry of Health for further informations:

The virus can be transmitted from person to person through:
  • direct contact with skinlesions or mucus membrane of an infected person
  • droplets (saliva, sneezing, spitting..) during longer periods of face to face contact
  • contact with objects out of the direct surroundings of an infected person (bedding, towels, clothes)

As a member of the EPOA (European Pride Organizers Association), Rosa Lëtzebuerg participated in this year's AGM (Annual General Meeting) from October 6 to 9 in Turin.

On the agenda were, among other things, the amendment of the statutes of the EPOA, a partial re-election of the Board of Directors and the election of the location for the next General Assembly in 2023. The highlight, however, was the vote on the hosting of Europride in 2025, where two candidacies were presented: that of Lisbon Pride, represented by a coalition of four organizations, and the CSD Magdeburg. With 79% of the delegates votes, Lisbon came out victorious.

In further workshops, the handling of kinks and fetishes at Pride events, risk communication (regarding monkeypox) as well as an upcoming major reform of the statutes of Interpride, which is likely to have an impact on EPOA as well as the individual local Prides, were discussed.

Furthermore, representatives of the Kyiv Pride and Kharikiv Pride reported on their experiences during the last 7 months. In this context, an interim report on the EPOA's support campaign, in which Rosa Lëtzebuerg and Luxembourg Pride had also participated, was also given: a little bit more than 100,000€ had been collected among the EPOA members, which will be made available to the Pride organizers in Ukraine, either in monetary form or through contributions in kind, such as the renting of premises or the purchase of vehicles.

As part of this support campaign, supporter flags were also produced and were present at the various Prides in Europe, as well as in Luxembourg. As part of the General Meeting, all Prides where this flag was present were signed with the corresponding attendance figures. This flag was gifted to the representatives of the Prides of Kyiv and Kharkiv. The flag will be added to an queer archive once the war in Ukraine is over.

11.10. | UPR REPORT

Rosa Lëtzebuerg was tasked to review the adherence of human rights related to Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) by the United Nations for their upcoming 43rd Universal Periodic Review (UPR) together with other human rights associations in Luxembourg. Despite concentrating on LGBTIQ+ related issues, ILGA had also contacted Rosa Lëtzebuerg to specifically raise awareness to Trans* and Inter* topics. Currently, Luxembourg ranks 5th on the ILGA rainbow index 2022, but little progress has been made in certain areas in the last years. With this report, we can further push the luxembourgish government to push for the demands that Rosa Lëtzebuerg has set for the year 2022 and give concrete SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound) recommendations. The report has been submitted on 11.10.2022 and we hope to get feedback in 2023.
