Developer Newsletter 004

February was an exciting month here at Embark, where we got to spend a lot of time sharing and learning with the Stockholm tech community.

Embarkers went out to several local events and gave awesome talks on procedural placement and 3D art in Blender. We also released a new open source project and shared info about new internships that are available. We even had some yummy semla at our office in Stockholm.

New to the newsletter? Welcome! I'm Ari, and every month I'll send you a summary of what Embark's been up to in open source and the greater developer ecosystem.

Let me know what you think! You can send feedback about the newsletter or questions to
Anastasia Opara's talk from the thing Stockholm

Talk: Example-based procedural placement in a dialogue system

At the thing Stockholm, Anastasia Opara shared a sneak-peek into Embark's experimental project Kittiwake, where our team set out to explore a feeling of co-creation with a procedural system in a dialogue-like interaction. You can watch the full talk now!

Maxi Vazquez's talk from the Stockholm Blender Meetup

Talk: Blending the Pain Away

At our February Blender Meetup, Maxi Vazquez gave an overview of Blender features, and shared useful tips and tricks for moving to Blender from other 3D software. You can watch the full talk now!

Open Source

🔆 New Crate: superluminal-perf-rs

We recently open-sourced superluminal-perf-rs, a small Rust crate that integrates with Superluminal profiler on Windows. Superluminal is great profiler with first-class support for Rust that we've been using in our Rust engine to find and optimize complex stalls & synchronization.

Contribute to open source!

Embark maintains many open source projects, and all of them welcome new contributors!

You can see all our projects on and read our Contributor Guide for info on how to get started.
