G3ict Co-hosts Side Event at U20 Mayors’ Summit
The U20 Mayors' Summit Side Event 5 was co-hosted by the World Economic Forum, G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance, World Enabled and G3ict. Participants learnt about the policies and measures that cities are taking to embed inclusivity into their Smart City programs and ultimately their city services. James Thurston (VP, G3ict) moderated a panel discussion with leaders from governments, corporations and civil organizations, including Erol Özgüner (Chief Information Officer, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality), Frances McAndrew (Diversity and Inclusion Lead, Transport for London), Hannes Lagrelius (Program Officer, World Blind Union),
Laura Ruby (Director, Accessibility Policy & Standards, Microsoft), Victor Calise (Commissioner, Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, New York City).

M-Enabling Virtual Leadership Briefing
Held on September 15, with over 1,200 registrants from 57 countries, the
M-Enabling Leadership Briefing 2020, a program of the M-Enabling Summit,
virtually convened 15 speakers among leading innovators and advocates for a
2-hour conversation addressing how COVID-19 pandemic challenges trigger new trends that anyone involved in digital accessibility needs to know. The fast-paced program featured dynamic interviews with thought leaders, engaging discussions,

IAAP Call for Pilot Participants for Built Environment Certification
The International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP)- a division of G3ict, is hosting pilots of upcoming exams for Certified Professional in Accessible Built Environments (CPABE) Level 1 or Level 2.

Pilot exams will be hosted through private, online proctoring beginning September 30, 2020 through to October 30, 2020. The links listed provide additional details or to register your place in the pilot. IAAP has announced a new stream of resources for its members focused on Universal Design in the built environment. Nada Alksebati, Syria
Nada has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Architecture from the Central Scientific Research and Designing Institute of the Model and Experimental Design of Dwelling, Moscow, USSR and has a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Damascus University, Syria. She is an author of a book titled: “Design Spaces for the Disabled” published by Damascus University and is a Professor in the University of Damascus, Faculty of Architectural Engineering. She is also a CPABE - Level II Advanced Certificant.

Colette Fransolet, South Africa
Colette works as a Universal Access Consultant, mainly to local government and large corporations. Her areas of proficiency include Public Transport, Built Environments and Policy. She strives to be the driving force for universal design to maintain the importance of social integration and diversity of people in South Africa, which has a unique context with an embedded history of segregation. She is passionate about research and training and is a regular guest lecturer at the University of Cape Town. Colette is also a CPABE - Level III Expert Certificant.

At the 2020 Interagency Accessibility Forum on October 6, Samantha Evans (IAAP) will chair a session on 'Developing Accessibility Talent - A Snapshot of Accessibility Education in the United States'. On October 7, Axel Leblois (President and Executive Director, G3ict) will chair a panel discussion on 'Accessibility on an International Scale', that includes panelists Shannon Archibald (Shared Service Canada), Susanna Laurin (Global Leadership Council, IAAP) and James Thurston.
