Woodside Nippers

I’m hoping all our Sorrento families had an enjoyable Easter break and our Nippers are making the most of the school holidays!
 
On Sunday SLSWA hosted the first Youth and Nippers award ceremony for the state and two of our nippers were recognised at the event.
 
On behalf of myself and the club I’d like to congratulate Madelyn Bertolini for being awarded the best performed U11 girl at the recent SLSWA State Championships and Tristan Oesterwinter was awarded Nipper, achiever, for his years of commitment to the Nippers and Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club. Congratulations to you both and we are so proud to have you as part of the team.

A couple of other events coming up and I would love to see our Nipper families support the events. We have the Waterman’s to the Wall swim where all funds raised will be going to one very special family at Sorrento, Carly, Andrew and Amelie Ridley. So please support if you can. Remember Nippers who want to swim need to be 12 and over on the day of the event.
 
We also have our club awards night coming up (details above) and we would love it if we can have a Junior contingent come along for a very special night for the club.

Youth News

The Youth went to Adventure  World  last Saturday and then returned to the Club for the End of Season Awards Presentation and dinner. 
 
Many thanks to those who organised the day and to all those who supported the fund raising activities throughout the year that made this possible.   A special recognition for those parents who took the  the Youth to Adventure World and braved the rides.
 
The Awards presentation and dinner marked the end of the 20/21 season for the Youth.  I would like to extend my heart felt thanks to the members of the Youth committee and all the parents who have supported us through the season.  Without all your efforts, none of this would  happen.  I feel  privileged to work with such a fantastic group of parents and guardians.
 
To the Sorrento Youth, I look forward to seeing you next season, and hope that you  return with the same energy, smiles and camaraderie that was on display throughout this season.
 
A couple of Administrative points to note:

-Maintain a roving watch  in the Sorrento Youth Development and Sorrento Surf Athletes  Facebook pages for updates on commencement of winter training.  Will be around the beginning of May.
-2021 Pool Rescue season commences at the start of May.  Additional details available on the above Facebook pages
 
Planning times for SRC and Bronze courses for Sept-Oct 2021 School Holidays
-SRC:  Monday 27th Sept to Saturday 2nd Oct (first week of school holidays)
-Bronze:  Monday 4th Oct to Saturday 9th Oct.  (second week of school holidays)
