Juniors

It was great to have a nice Sunday morning  for all our age groups to enjoy. Hopefully the good weather on Sunday’s continue for the rest of the season.

This Friday we have our Junior disco and we are looking forward to seeing our Nippers smashing out some cool moves on the dance floor. Remember you’ll need to purchase a ticket at $10 before you can redeem your hotdog, drink and Icy pole.
Please see below poster for full details on the disco.

Board Training
This Wednesday we will be providing the marina session. These sessions are run for our newer and less confident board paddlers. Our intention is to give our Nippers the ability to get the skills of board paddling. It is open to Little Nippers and Nippers U8 to U13. It is
mandatory to have a hi vis vest , Woodside age cap and bottle of water. Please make sure you have these to train.

Nippers wanting to participate in our Marina session which is named ( skills and technical group) you will need to go to the club first grab a board load it into the trailer at 4:45 then make your way to the marina and of course once the session is finished, load the boards back into the trailer, go back to the club and wash down your board and return it to the Junior cage.

Those nippers who stay at Sorrento will be broken into two groups one called endurance and the other called technique. These groups  will be assigned by Bill and Shane. We will be reintroducing a sign-in sheet for all groups that you will sign in at your coaches location on the beach.

As usual all parents with water safety qualifications please come to sessions prepared to help to assist our water safety ratio requirements.

The Alkimos Development Carnival is being on this weekend good luck to our nippers who have decided to have a crack and dont forget to have fun and enjoy the experience.

See you on the beach!

COMPETITION

We had a fun morning on Sunday at Secret Harbour with some great performances and many of our youth crew competing in their first-ever carnival senior or junior.

Jett and Zahra flew the green flag in the 2km beach run; Jaxon and Zahra led the way with great performances in the sand and were joined at flags and sprints by Keely, Jessica and Ben all at their first carnival - Zahra and Keely even managed a jet ski ride prior to sprints!

Kai continues to fly the flag for the u15 boys in the water and was happy to be joined by Will and Jett in the u14s. Sam and Hollie continue to race brilliantly in the water for the u15 girls with highlights being 3rd in the board for Sam and fourth in Irons for Hollie. Harriet took 3rd in Irons and 1st in the surf race with the old Mighty White Cap surf team rounded out by Niamh Bronte and Lani, finishing close together in the top ten. This quartet were joined in the U14 surf race by Zahra, Olivia, Keely and Jessica.
Undeterred by some decent sets coming through Grace and Emily caught fantastic waves in the board race showing great courage and determination.

I think the relays were the highlight for most of us, especially being able to field 3 full Cameron teams in the girls which meant that every girl who came down raced at least twice.

Kai, Will and Jett made up the boys board relay and we’re joined by Jaxon for the Cameron. Sam, Hollie and Harriet were second behind North Cott in the girls board relay followed by a great effort by Zahra, Bronte and Emily making up the other girls board relay.
Great efforts today by Ben Snook & Jessica Madden today who enjoyed fantastic conditions at Secret Harbour today. Ben picked up a second in the U17 Ski and 2 fifth placings in the swim and iron Ben was leading the iron coming into the wave zone only to be passed in the last 15 meters by 4 people who caught a wave and passed him. Jess performed very well and held her own finishing 5th in the Open Ironwoman. The runners also had a great day out and it was fantastic to see 5 time Australian Beach Sprint Champion and living legend Jackson Symonds down at Secret Harbour helping out with the warm up and coaching of the beach crew.

The March Past team also travelled down and came away with a win. Rhian Chin will give a Youth update later so well done to all who raced and hopefully we will see more at the the next carnival which is our own being held at Sorrento beach on Saturday 12th December.

Well done to our boat crew that did a great race as well!! They came 3rd in B final which is a fantastic result!!

We’re so so proud of everyone who came down today and did their best for Team Green and we’re looking forward to seeing even more of you at the next carnival at Sorrento on Saturday 12th December 2020.

Sunday session
Sunday youth went really well around 22 Youth attending .  Great conditions!!!!! Some of the youth elected to do water safety for nippers(remember, you  need to have your SRC), otherwise Lisa, Hal and TIm conducted a “whole group” board paddle from the flag to the MAAC and return (it’s not that  far), it was perfect conditions for a long paddle. After that, there was a “rescue relay” where the Group  formed teams and conducted a board rescue then a tube rescue in a relay race format.  Both beneficial and a bit of fun.

Next  Sunday is looking good, so we’ll see you  all on the beach for a great morning to follow up the bowling on Saturday evening.

Thanks
