Youth News
Firstly a massive thank you to Marina for kicking off the windup by organising a fantastic social afternoon at Karrinyup, Holey Moley and Archie Bros. There were a lot of smiles and looks like a fantastic time was had by all. Marina also announced her retirement as Youth Social Organiser and invited anyone that is keen to take over this role to jump in. Over the past two years Marina has been key in setting up a fund raising program for Youth and driving regular social activities outside of the social club. You will be missed Marina! Thank you.

Thank you also to Greg Belmont for being such a positive driving force for investment by the club in equipment, facilities and programs for our Youth. Without this representation on the board most of the changes made to the youth program just would not have happened. Also the fantastic photography from comps and our Sunday Sessions! Also thank you to the Board for supporting the Youth Program.

Thank you to ALL the team that made up the Youth Committee this year:
Senior Age Manager, Tim Begley; Youth Age Managers Darren Bender, Martin Booth, Martin Flaig, Darren Goodwin, Rick Ogden, Michael Paccanaro, Sven Sumsor, Hal Schmeidte, Deb & Dave Tasker, Matt Wools-Cobb, Stef & Grant Yujnovich, Kevin Coleman, Isabella Grygierczyk. Competition Liaison: Rhian Chin; Youth Program Pathways Support: Robyn Cam, Nicole Hughes; Youth YIPs / YLP Program Managers: Deb Tasker, Michelle Overton; Youth Social Committee: Marina Deans, Nicole Hughes, Tania Paccanaro.

And also thank you to all the Coaches, Club Captains, Patrol Captains, and Beach Boys that drive and keep our youth engaged. Thank you also to the Parents that make it possible for their youth to become an important part of the club.

Last and definitely not least a HUGE thank you to all of our YOUTH! We hope that you have had a fantastic season and look forward to seeing you back next year. And for those that are keen on staying green year-round we look forward to seeing you join our winter training programs and Pool Rescue / IRB training squads.

With a large RED CAPS group coming through to youth in 2022/23 it will be an even bigger year!
An important part of the Windup on Saturday was the YOUTH AWARDS. These are separate from the competition committee awards and recognize special contributions and achievements by our Youth. Congratulations to all of our recipients and nominees!

Intro to Ski’s Program April 2022:
Sat saw the April / May Intro to Ski’s program kick off for 15 of last season’s U14’s. The April / May course can be hit and miss with the weather. Sat & Sun was a hit. We were able to hold the sessions at the club which took out the issue of transporting the group and ski’s to the marina.
The Intro to Ski’s program continues to build on its success from last year thanks largely to its fantastic coaches Leanne & Jason, the addition of Richard Elderfield to the coaching team, and both youth and senior mentors.

It was fantastic to see the group developing after just two sessions. Well done ALL! And a huge thank you to our mentors/helpers on the weekend: Matt K, Chris M, Sue L, Kevin K, James W, Kai B, Lani B, Maddi B. Also great to have the parents stick around and help with the ski’s particularly the less fun but important part of washdown / pack away.

The focus on this group will be to have the group training through winter 2022, the regular season as U15’s 2022/23, winter 2023 and then on obtaining their bronze, competing for the club in ski’s in the 2023/24 season.

We are sorry that we couldn’t accommodate more U14 youth and after an initial email early March to all U14 youth the group was at capacity in less than 2 weeks! For those that are keen and have missed out on the April session, we will be running another session for Youth Sept / Oct for the then U15’s Youth. Please keep an eye on email and the Youth facebook page as we get closer to this time.
