Between the Groynes

Recycling at Sorrento SLSC WA

As a proud, local community organization it is our responsibility to ensure we lead from the front with activities that provide us with a clean, safe and healthy environment for our members.

As you are aware glass and plastic bottles and aluminum cans can not only be recycled but turned in to $$$ for any nominated organization.

There will be a wheelie bin clearly labelled with the Containers For Change logo placed in the boatshed n Sundays while Nippers is on to place our used containers in. It will be emptied each week and all proceeds will be channeled back into the club.

Maybe not on the face of it but this simple and positive alteration in our behavior means that we`re playing our part in a much larger shift in society in how we manage all our waste and we`re setting up the next generation with a great example.

Make sure you encourage our kids on the beach and keep our environment as clean as possible.

Woodside Nippers

On Sunday our plan of TRANSITIONING OUT OF LOCKDOWN for Sorrento SLSC Woodside Nippers put together by Andrew Ridley was comprehensive and detailed. Thank Andrew for spending so much time on getting it right so we could get to run a Nipper session.

I’d like to thank all our Senior Age Managers and Assistant Age Managers along with our awesome Nippers and their families for following the directives of the plan so we could run the session whilst keeping everyone as safe as possible.

A special mention must go to our set up and pack up crew that went over and above to get all our gear out and back in not the most ideal of conditions, thanks to you all.

This weeks club sanctioned training will be on, unfortunately, due to some sanctions still  in place, we won’t have a marina board session on Wednesday,  only a session at the main beach is available. Please follow the protocols outlined in our transition out of lockdown for training plan if your Nipper attends the session.

Beach Training will also be back on Friday night with the State Qualifiers on this weekend for our U10 to U13. Please keep an eye out for training information on the Sorrento Juniors page and your age group pages as a few changes may be made later in the week.

Best of luck to all our Nippers heading to the State Qualifiers at Leighton this Sunday. As I always say, go do your best, have a crack and remember that enjoying the experience is the most important part of it all.

For everyone else not going to Leighton, hopefully, we will be back to a non-restricted Nipper session at Sorrento beach.

Enjoy the week stay safe!
