Sorrento RWC Course 2020 update

Wind, Rain & Rough Surf
That is the best way to describe Sunday's training session at Secret Harbour for the SOSLSC 2020 RWC Operator Course. The future Sorrento RWC Operators have experienced all sorts of conditions over the past 9 weeks to prepare them for the rigours of real rescue conditions. The course has shown how Rescue Water Craft (Jet Skis) are clearly a very versatile and effective craft for all rescue conditions.

The group has trained at a few different locations and on Sunday we travelled to Secret Harbour where we were welcomed by Gary Williams, their RWC Co-ordinator along with RWC Operators Liam Bates and Chris Howarth.  They were very hospitable and we all really enjoyed training and learning from each other. Gary shared his exceptional knowledge with us which will assist Sorrento to become a highly effective RWC base. The conditions were fantastic for training and it really challenged everyone - the ocean was relentless on operators and the machines. A big shout out to Secret Harbour SLSC for their teamwork, camaraderie and professionalism.

We only have 1 or 2 training sessions remaining unit until the assessment day and the team have put in a mammoth effort to get to this point.  I’m sure they will represent themselves and our club well, demonstrating the vast array of skills and knowledge they have acquired during the course. Good luck team!
