Woodside Nippers
To all our Sorrento families, I hope with Labor’s announcement and Liberal following commitment to our new club building funds, you all should feel a little proud of your efforts at the club over the years and the commitment of this money is an acknowledgment of the voluntary work you all do in the community, so congratulations to you all.
Thank you to everyone who played a part of our Mighty Sorrento Team at state qualifiers on Sunday. To see so many green caps having a crack was absolutely awesome. Congratulations to each and every one of the nippers that competed on Sunday.
Special mention to our Senior Age Managers and their brilliant Assistant Age Managers to our club officials and water safety volunteers.
I have already put a post on our Junior Facebook page but I needed to get this information out on our newsletter as well so I don’t miss anyone and explain the full reasons behind decisions made.
This Sunday’s Club Champs 3 has been rescheduled for the following age groups U11 U12 and U13.
U10 club champs will still be run this Sunday.
Club champs 3 for U11, U12 and U13 will now be run on Sunday the 28th February 2021.
Unfortunately due to COVID rearranging the State Qualifiers program, board rescue qualification has been shifted to this Sunday at Mullaloo Beach. I don’t need to explain that we couldn’t run a Club Championships when we are encouraging all our Nippers to compete at qualifiers on behalf of the club. This part of the decision was a no brainer by our whole Junior committee to reschedule. The difficult problem was where to move it too.The calendar is so full and results is needed to make up club teams for States, the only date available to us was Sunday the 28th of February 2021.
I do know this is not ideal for people that may have had plans for the long weekend but unfortunately with COVID changing the rules we needed to adjust.
I’m sorry for any inconvenience caused and I thank you all in advance for your understanding and support in this matter if you have queries or need further explanation please email or message me.
The other event that we had to change and are really excited about is the inaugural Sorrento 1km run for our U8 through to U13. This is being run this Friday night. Registrations are at 6pm down the ramp on the main beach near the shade sails.
Looking forward to seeing as many of our Nippers down Friday night to have a crack and of course a great opportunity to hang about the club after for a cordial and a burger.
Good luck to all our U8 and U9 heading to Mullaloo to compete at the Little Nipper carnival go and have a blast!
Also good luck to our Junior R&R teams that are competing this Saturday at Sorrento at the R&R carnival and to all our board rescue teams that are competing also at Mullaloo on Sunday for state qualifiers Go Mighty Mighty Sorrento 💚
I’d like to mention and wish any of our members and their families involved in this Saturdays Rotto Swim the best of luck in your crossing and enjoy the day!
Wow there is a lot happening!
See you on the beach
