Great to see the youth out in numbers on Sunday (59 signed in)! The weather again turned on an absolutely stunning day. A huge thank you to Chris, Les, Leanne, Jason and Maddi for bringing down four of the double ski’s for the Youth to have a go. Feedback was huge with a lot of interest from the youth in being involved with the ski programs that will be available this season.
Also thank you Lisa for kicking off the morning with the Sunday swim. Great to see everyone in the water on a mass start and enjoying the conditions.
Thank you to all the Youth for putting up with us testing a few options for how our Sundays will look moving forward. Our session format will always kickstart with a club event (swim); then aim to incorporate two sections:

  1. Training / Lifesaving activities – We would love to see our older youth that are bronzies come down and help out with this. This is a great opportunity for you to pass on your knowledge to the younger Youth who look to you for leadership and support. Huge thank you to those youth that played the role of patrol captains this week in the tube rescue.
  2. Modified sport activities / Games – This week we ran a flags and surf arena.
We will continue to introduce new activities that aim to keep you engaged, challenged and allow you time to enjoy hanging out with your friends. Please don’t hesitate to let the age managers know how the day went.
A couple of quick recaps:
  • Pool Rescue has their final series competition on Oct 31. Sorrento has always traditionally had a strong showing. Please register and we will hopefully see you on deck at HBF Stadium, 2-5pm on Sat 31 October.
  • Good luck to all Youth that are competing in the Endurance series on Sat, Oct 31. We will be there cheering you on!
  • YIP Forms: Any new youth that haven’t submitted the YIP forms please look for Olivia’s and Greg’s emails with the forms to sign and send in. Otherwise check in the Blue Folder Youth Beach Box, we will make sure this has spare forms.
  • SRC: Please register asap. Email Jess, as this course kicks off this coming weekend!
  • WARNING – Nippers are back this Sunday! The luxury of being able to spread out on the main beach will go! If in doubt where the boundaries are for the youth activities and training arenas, see an age manager, thank you.
  • All Youth please check in per normal by 8.45 at the latest (clipboards in the youth box), please jump in on the swim and then those that are heading off to a different area (development skis – Chris Milne; nippers water safety etc) please mark this on the check in so we can keep track of numbers and where the youth are spread. Thank you.
Have a great week all. We look forward to seeing you at the Youth Flag on Sunday.
