DINNER & DIALOGUE: A monthly interfaith gathering for the UVM community
Thursdays once a month @ 7 (Next one Oct 15th!)
Online
In the midst of a pandemic, political elections, and social upheaval, we are being challenged to examine what it means to live as a civil society. How do you understand freedom from your own religious and/or philosophical perspective? Dinner & Dialogue is an annual, six-part series that invites students, staff, faculty, and members of the Burlington community to explore our own core values in conversation with others. Each month we will explore and discuss one of the five basic freedoms found in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. September’s conversation invites us to explore how we understand the concept of freedom itself. The event is free. We ask folks to RSVP by emailing their interest along with their religious or philosophical identity or background to help us plan for numbers and create diverse groups for conversation. To RSVP for the event link and learn more about the Dinner & Dialogue series visit https://go.uvm.edu/dinneranddialogue

I’m excited to share that we have now launched our application for our Summer 2021 Internship Program. Students will now be able to use one application to apply for both our Summer Program and our current opportunities (i.e., full and part-time jobs, fall / spring internships, etc.).
Another exciting development at LifeSci NYC is that we have scheduled Virtual Info Sessions that are open to interested students from all universities. The schedule and links for these sessions are as follows:
We will also soon be posting recordings on our website so that students unable to attend one of the above sessions may learn about our program at their own convenience. I will be sure to send you links once they are available.
While each of our live virtual sessions will include an opportunity for Q&A, we will also be offering virtual office hours so that students with additional questions after attending a live or recorded session may make an appointment to chat for a few minutes with me or our Program Coordinator, Kaylynn Mayo.
As a final note, I offer a reminder that students will only be able to access our list of available summer opportunities once they have completed their comprehensive online application. Students wishing to apply for current opportunities, however, may view them HERE, and will be directed to our online application should they wish to apply.
Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Best regards,
Sharon

Dear community, friends and colleagues,
The Mosaic Center for Students of Color (MCSC) is honored to facilitate our mission to serve you, our broad, diverse and complex community of color here at The University of Vermont (UVM). Our communication mechanisms, including The Scoop, social media, posters and flyers in and around the Center, etc, share information about the broadest possible range of University sanctioned information and offerings that might appeal to individuals and/or groups that are a part of our community.
We understand that there might be divergent needs and opinions about items that might be publicized and we hope that there will be, at a minimum, tolerance for our different perspectives and necessities. The staff of the MCSC does not necessarily support the views of every item that might be shared through our outlets but, as long as said programs/events are UVM-affiliated, we believe it should be communicated to our audience as well.
The MCSC staff alone, in collaboration with University officials, has the authority to declare whether or not certain information is shared from this space via The Scoop, social media, flyers/posters, etc. We are happy to entertain conversations, questions and/or concerns regarding any material but, reserve the right to make the final decision about what can be shared and in what manner.
Our goal is to hold space so that each of us, with our similarities and differences, can make a home within The MCSC.
Please help us make this goal a reality. Bring your respect, courage and aspiration for the beautiful community to the work of co-creating an environment where we can all belong.
With love,
The MCSC Team
