5 JUNE 2020

Dear SASSETA client

The cut-off date for the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP’s) and Annual Training Records (ATR’s)/Mandatory Grants submissions was 31 May 2020. However, in certain cases, there could be employers who might have not been able to submit their documents by the deadline of 31 May 2020.

According to the SETA Grant Regulations section 4 (8): A SETA’s Accounting Authority may grant an extension up to a maximum period of one month from the date contemplated in sub regulation (2) for late submission of an application for mandatory grant subject to a written request by a levy paying employer.

Therefore, affected employers are advised to request an extension by completing an application form and submitting their request by no later than Friday, 12 June 2020 by the close of business (16:00). The application form can be accessed by visiting the SASSETA website or clicking the following link: https://www.sasseta.org.za/how-can-we-help-you/wsp-and-atr/
NO FIRM DATE FOR DISCRETIONARY GRANT

In the context of Covid-19, we would like to encourage stakeholders to consider re-prioritising their training needs for the 2020/21 financial year to include accredited programmes that will assist with workplace readiness, the prevention of Covid-19 and other occupational hazards.

We will publish another advert as soon as we have received stakeholder comments. Please email your comments to dg@sasseta.org.za

ETQA ASSESSOR AND MODERATOR AND QUALA UPDATE

The COVID-19 pandemic is causing enormous disruption to the lives of all South Africans including work in the Skills Development Sector. A challenge that currently faces the sector in this time of social distancing is the need for centres to apply for accreditation under SASSETA’s scope. This challenge also applies to applicants who have already submitted accreditation applications under SASSETA's scope.

The fact that no travel can take place during this lockdown period has serious implications for the accreditation visits and verification visits. Because of these restrictions, the following cannot be accommodated at this stage:

  • New applications for accreditation
  • New applications for assessor and moderator registration
  • Request form for QALA/Verification

Be assured that the SASSETA ETQA is committed to finding flexible solutions to ensure that education and training continues with all applicable lockdown regulations. A guideline document will be circulated to accredited skills development providers. Please constantly refer to the SASSETA website for updates in this regard.

Ms. J Amod: Executive Manager: Learning Programmes

E:Learning Guidelines and application forms will be posted on the SASSETA website soon.
