Welcome to 2019. I look forward to the continued growth and development of the Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance started and continued by the Chairs before me. I am proud to have Exelon chairing the Alliance once again. In 2008 when the Alliance was first organized, Bridget Reidy, my predecessor as Chief Supply Officer at Exelon served as the first chair. 

We want to thank Mike Haggerty, Vice President Supply Chain, Con Edison for leading the Alliance through another successful year in 2018. Through his leadership and others on the Executive Committee, Ellen Angley, Anne Becker, Carrie Young, and Tony Tomczak, we welcomed Supplier Affiliate Members and changed the structure of our organization. As 2019 Chair, I look forward to continued development of our Supplier Affiliate Program and continuing to grow and strengthen the success of the Alliance. I appreciate the elected members of the Executive Committee who share their time and commitment as we meet monthly to help guide the organization through its goals and objectives that we set collectively in November 2018.

We are looking forward to continued and increased engagement in the Alliance programs by our utility members and suppliers, including: 

2019 Alliance Themes

Our 2019 priorities look to build on our current success, momentum, and engagement to make significant progress towards our 2020 goals and vision.  Ultimately this will be achieved through the performance improvement of our utility and supplier affiliate members; as well as, our broader stakeholders. To support this we’re focusing on a few key outcomes:

  • For Utility and Supplier Affiliate Members – fostering the awareness and adoption of successful sustainability practices through: use of The Sustainability Project (TSP), practice sharing, topic round tables, survey training, annual conference, etc.
  • For Utility Members – supporting the further adoption of the annual supplier survey through: TSP training, 1:1 workshops, etc.
  • For Supplier Affiliate Members (SAM) – driving deeper engagement on the Alliance and its vision through: greater engagement opportunities, alignment on utility needs, SAM Luncheon, a performance improvement topic round table, dedicated survey results webinar, etc.

We are excited about the year ahead, the opportunities to accelerate the industry’s transition to a more sustainable future, and collaborating with each of you.

The Alliance’s goal is to create closer collaboration between electric utility industry leaders who are addressing the challenges of creating a cleaner, more efficient and more sustainable supply chain – and their suppliers. If your company is committed to sustainability, you should have a place at the table. Below is a chart which makes up the current mix of our supplier affiliate members. Future Practice Sharing Dates

February 19th
Managing equipment utilization has always been difficult, and in the Digital Age, equipment is valued as much for the information it can provide – about its location, use and performance – as for the task or tasks it performs. While some companies still manage rental equipment from a best rate or “3 bids and a buy” perspective, growing numbers are searching to leverage information in order to make more informed decisions on their fleet. Join us as United Rentals will provide a better understanding of where to look for opportunities to improve efficiencies on site and in the back office, what key performance indicators to monitor and how to leverage total control to drive productivity improvements. About January Practice Sharing

January 22nd
Con Edison discussed their Zero Scrap Cable Program and how they were able to create a “closed loop” process by collaborating with their cable vendor to save money, reduce waste, and manage material handling, storage needs, and their carbon footprint.

Join us for the 2018-19 EUISSCA Supplier Survey Results Webinars

The Alliance will be hosting a series of webinars to share the aggregated results and high-level trends from the TSP Project survey; as well as, to provide guidance on leveraging your survey to improve performance. Each webinar session will be tailored to a specific audience including:  Service Industries, Construction Related Industries, Manufacturing Industries, and one exclusively for the EUISSCA Supplier Affiliate Members.   Please register for the appropriate webinar(s) by following the links below.

On the webinar we will be sharing:
  • Aggregated results, trends and industry benchmarks
  • Examples of how members are using the survey results
  • Guidance on leveraging the survey for your own benchmarking and performance improvement
There will also be an opportunity to provide feedback on the Alliance survey process ahead of the 2019 request.
