NEWS FROM THE PROJECT
Virtual partner meeting and transnational webinar
The two-day long virtual partner meeting was followed by a Transnational Webinar titled "Planning for energy-efficient metro stations" on 18 May 2021. >> Read more HERE. (The link includes the presentations and the recording of the webinar as well.)
Pilsen finished tests of new battery technology
First full year results of the Vienna PV system
A new, foil-based PV system is being tested on the roof of a Vienna metro station by Wiener Linien. The green energy is directly fed into the stations’ energy grid: the system is used to power metro station auxiliaries.>> Read more HERE.
Virtual site visit to the metro station in Vienna
Three virtual site visits were prepared by Wiener Linien to introduce the new, foil-based photovoltaic system that is tested on the roof of the Ottakring metro station.  >> Read more HERE.
CALL FOR USER FORUM APPLICATIONS
A key part of the Interreg EfficienCE project is the pilot application of novel energy saving technologies in public transport infrastructures, being "first-of-its-kind" in Central Europe ranging from renewable energy integration intro metro stations (Vienna) and trolley depots (Gdynia) to upgrade a substation for multipurpose use of existing public transport infrastructure (Maribor). The solutions will be shown through virtual site visits.

Are you currently in the process of developing a pilot measure for energy efficient PT infrastructure or adopting innovative technologies? If yes, apply now for the site visits!
CITY IN THE SPOTLIGHT: GDYNIA
In Gdynia you can charge a car thanks to trolleybuses
The City of Gdynia and the trolleybus operator PKT have completed two EU projects by implementing and testing an innovative solution, a mobile charging station for electric cars, powered by the trolleybus network. Within the Interreg EfficienCE project an energy storage inverter has been designed and constructed by PKT, which is a device for processing excess braking energy and traction power.

On the other hand, a mobile charging station for electric cars was built as part of the project CAR (Creating Automotive Renewal – INTERREG South Baltic) by the city of Gdynia, allowing them to be charged with different ranges of power and electric current.  >> Read more HERE.

NEWS FROM OUR PARTNERS
Innovative installation of an Urban Data Platform in Leipzig
Three cities, Munich, Hamburg and Leipzig strive to develop urban data platforms and digital twins across cities that can be implemented in other German cities as well. >> Read more HERE.
Rationalisation of the electric public transport system in Maribor

The Municipality of Maribor commissioned experts from the University of Ljubljana to prepare a study about the best economic and technical solutions for the electrification of bus line no. 6 in Maribor to achieve sustainable goals and improve air quality in the city.  >> Read more HERE.
