University of Memphis UMRF Research Park Receives Soft Landings Designation
The UMRF Research Park opened on our campus in 2019 to serve as an innovation hub attracting global talent and enhancing the Memphis community that we serve.
The Research Park recently reached an essential milestone in accomplishing that mission as it received the “Soft Landings” designation from the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) after a nearly two-year process. This is significant in that it establishes the Research Park as a destination for entrepreneurs and businesses entering the United States from all over the world.
Soft Landings designees help make contacts in a new country more quickly and efficiently while providing access to the resources necessary to meet their business goals. At the UofM, we have the necessary services and support systems in place to ensure a seamless relocation or expansion to the U.S.
As the first entrepreneurship center in our region to receive this designation, our community is positioned to benefit greatly as we attract international companies with high potential to the Research Park.
This is a testament to the hard work and dedication within our Office of Economic Development and Government Relations. I have no doubt this is just the beginning of what will be accomplished at the Research Park, which currently has 18 citizen companies and continues to enhance the economic footprint of our region.
