Summer of Stories
We have an arts council funded project running this year, which involves community-engaged artists seeking and sharing stories of happiness in Bucks from our residents. Over Summer, they used a ‘Story Stall’ – think artist-designed market stall – and Story Postcards to collect stories. They visited various locations and spoke to lots of people, and are now also keen to run some workshops with young people. We are working with a dancer/choreographer who is very keen to work with students in years 5-8 to devise new work based on stories of happiness.
We’d be looking at 2 / 2.5-hour workshops in school.

YCBucksCEP logo competition
Young Creative Bucks needs a professional, fresh and creative logo to support its identity and emerging role as a network hub for creative and cultural activity and education for young people in our county.
The one you see above is only temporary and we think that there are some budding young designers out there who can do much better!
The chosen design will be reproduced by a professional designer so you can submit a scan/photo of your hand-drawn design or a digital file using any commonly used format. The young designer will have the opportunity to visit the professional designer to work with them on producing the final version.
We encourage teachers and arts organisations to set their children running by giving some initial input on how to design an impactful logo, but the final submissions must be entirely the young person’s own work and should be submitted by them using the ShowUs/TellUs page on the YCBucksCEP website using the ‘Choose File’ upload button.
Young designers must be aged 10 – 18 and attending a Buckinghamshire school.
Entries must be received by Friday 7th January 2022 so could be a great holiday project!

During the Global Pandemic of Summer 2020, a group of diverse young performers came together online as part of The Theatre Shed’s summer scheme.
Across two weeks these young creatives of mixed abilities and disabilities explored the art of animation, storytelling, and songwriting culminating in an innovative, bizarre, and wonderful short musical animation film… The Goat, The Shed, and Me! With creative control at every level, from designing the character illustrations, scriptwriting, voice-over work, and special effects, this film truly is a direct product of these incredible young minds.
The Theatre Shed is an inclusive arts company based in the heart of Bucks, which comprise an all-encompassing, cross-section of our community.

Amersham Music Centre 50th Anniversary Celebrations
From its early beginnings in 1971 to today’s plethora of musical groups, bands and ensembles - Amersham Music Centre celebrated its 50th Anniversary in style at the Elgiva Theatre in Chesham this month.
Orchestral pieces, rock bands, instrumental ensembles as well as choir performances were on offer, filling the theatre’s main performance space, foyer and cafe areas with music, showcasing our young musicians in front of parents, ex-members and supporters.
A great day was had by all - and of course, there was an Amersham Music Centre cake to be had, too.
