Happy Sunday, All!!

Comfort Zone Camp

Comfort Zone Camp's Grief Relief 5k has started and will run until July 31st!  A NAWIC team has been started so if you are interested, please sign up at the website! It costs $35 to sign up . You will get a t-shirt and your own fundraising page to share with friends and family. You can walk "virtually" on your own at any time.
Comfort Zone Camp is a grief camp for kids who have lost a close family member.  This camp helps kids develop coping mechanisms and shows them they are not alone. I have been volunteering with them for 4 years and they are always looking for more volunteers! If you would like to know more you can visit their website or email Sarah.

Girls in Construction Task Force

Our chapter can't wait to get local girls and young women interested in the construction industry!  By partnering with local girls groups (Girls For A Change, Girl Scouts, etc) and connecting them with groups that facilitate work shops (She Built This City, The Science Museum of Virgina, Henrico CTE, etc) we are hoping to reach as many girls as possible in the area.  Our first event will be on July 19th with She Built This City and Girls For A Change.  The group will meet again at the end of July.  If you have ideas or want to volunteer your time, please email Sarah Wilkerson.

Region News

The Charlotte chapter is looking for volunteers to assist with Annual Conference -

National is preparing for Annual Conference here in Charlotte in August.  The PD&E Committee has been tasked with identifying volunteer members to assist during the event.  If you or any of your members are planning to attend conference and would like to volunteer for the following activities, please let me know.  Send me names, email addresses, phone numbers & chapter number and what they are willing to help with. Thanks so much!
1. Speaker Introductions: Recruit volunteers for introducing speakers for the 20 breakout sessions. We don’t necessarily have to find 20, some could introduce more than 1.

2. Door Monitors: For the Welcome Party (Wed.) & for the Thurs. and Fri. Luncheons and Awards Gala (Fri.). Need 2-3 for each event.

3. Pages: People to help attendees find a seat with their respective regions during business meetings:  Meeting on Thurs. 4:00-4:30PM and Fri. 8:30-10:00AM

National Conference

As we usually have done, the board passed a motion to pay the registration fee (up to the cost of Early Bird) for all members in good standing to the Annual Conference.  All you need to do is register online.  When you get to the payment portion, select pay by check.  Email your registration confirmation to our Treasurer and then mail a check for the registration amount to our PO Box.  If you have added items beyond the base registration (pin, raffle tickets, etc.), please send a separate check for the cost of those items, as well.  Wendy will send in one check from the chapter for all registrations received.  After you turn in your report within 45 days after the conference, your check will be returned to you.  Don’t forget to do the report or you check will be deposited.  Our PO box is listed at the bottom of this email.  Should you have any questions please let us know.

The latest roster for our chapter can be found here.  Please check your information for accuracy.  If you see any discrepancies, please be sure to update your information with National to correct them.  If you do not see your birthday listed, please email our Membership Committee (  Please send any questions to Lydia Lane (
