Dear friends,

It is with a bittersweet heart, I am announcing my last day will be May 2nd.  I have accepted a teaching position out of state.  I am very excited about this new opportunity but sad to leave all of you.

It is hard to leave my spiritual home of many years.... I was even baptized by Fr. Don Klein back in the old building as a baby.   Originally from Cedar Falls, I started here a student at UNI in 2006 and upon graduation became a community member, then Office Manager in February of 2018.  (Although I still get asked what year I am in school on occasion by visitors.) My years here hold many great memories. I am immensely  grateful for the mentorship and guidance provided by the many community leaders and former staff over the years.

One of the greatest joys in this position has been the greater St. Stephen the Witness community. I have very much enjoyed working with the various groups like Y's Group, RCIA, Finance and Pastoral Councils.  It has been a blessing to work with the many students and to watch them grow and succeed.  To the students:  I am so very proud of each of you!  What a bright, hardworking, thoughtful, talented, and faithful group I have encountered as a staff member.

Please reach out to me prior to May 2nd if you would like to stay in touch.  I also have snapchat, Facebook, and LinkedIn.   I hope to join you for Mass on occasion when I visit family in town.  I wish you all the very, very  best.

Many Blessings,
Molly Scullin

Last week we thanked our peer ministers for this year.  This week I want to express our gratitude to our FOCUS missionaries for this year.  Team director Leanne Jarvis, Joe McCoy, Whitney Klym and Dan Sasala have continued our mission even in the midst of the pandemic.  SEEK 21 was a great success, and over 180 students are in small group Bible studies or discipleship mentoring.

We sadly say goodbye to Leanne and Joe as they shift to other ministries.  We are excited to have Dan and Whitney, our new team director, back with us in the fall.

This summer, twelve of our UNI students will be participating in a FOCUS mission trip, to do outreach to those who are materially or spiritually in need.  I would have guessed only three or four would do this.  This is outstanding.

It is also outstanding that three of our graduating seniors will serve as FOCUS missionaries on other campuses next year:  Anne Gradoville, Colin Flattery, and Katie Hopping.  They join the three UNI graduates who began service as FOCUS missionaries this year:  Kyle Skoumel, Sam Obert, and Noah Huber.  Wow!

Inviting FOCUS to join our mission here two years ago has produced much good fruit.  And we are just getting started.

All the best,

Fr. Jon

We also invite participants to bring socks, hats, gloves, or hand warmers to include in their bundles.

Do you thirst for a more intimate relationship with God? Do you hunger for increased knowledge of the Catholic faith? Do you desire to make a greater IMPACT in your parish and community? If yes, consider joining the next IMPACT cohort! Through spiritual reading, dynamic presenters, engaging discussion, prayer experiences, and personal reflection, participants will be challenged to respond more fully to Jesus’ call to mission—to IMPACT our world! The next two-year cohort begins in September of 2021 and will meet monthly (on Saturdays) at St. Mark Parish in Iowa Falls. For more information and the application, please visit:
Religious Brothers Day is held annually on May 1, the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker.  All religious brothers are recognized during this international event. For more information go to:

We are now live-streaming on YouTube and on our website!  Go to for our YouTube Channel.

UPDATE: While we are providing some music at Mass, we are asking the assembly to not sing along, because this is considered a high-risk activity for the spread of Covid-19. Music is integral to the liturgy, and I know it's hard to not sing along. But please, for everyone's safety, try to refrain. Thank you!

We also offer a Homebound ministry for those who prefer to watch the livestream here on Facebook. If interested please sign up here:

Mass Procedures:
Please keep your mask on while you are in the building.

Children under 2 do not have to wear a mask. Please continue to social distance, as well. We will not be taking up the collection in the same form —there is a basket in the lobby that you may place any gifts in on your way out. For communion, Father will come to you to distribute. Please wait for him to move on to the next person before you remove your mask to consume the Body of Christ.
World Day of Prayer will be observed on Sunday, April 25, 2021 also known as "Good Shepherd Sunday."  The purpose of this day is to publicly fulfill the Lord's instruction to, "Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest" (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2).  Please pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord's call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes. Resources for promoting vocations can be found on the USCCB website.
