Dear St Matthew’s Family,
All of a sudden, we face two challenges. A potential outbreak of a virulent virus, and a savage bushfire forcing all to flee before it. And yet the Lord reigns.
So far there has been no further outbreak of COVID-19, which is good news. Praise God for his continued protection of our city. Hopefully, this means we can meet as usual on Sunday and have had to make no changes other than delay the beginning of some of our ministries. Please keep praying for this, and that this would be nothing more than a pause. I will keep you informed of any changes.
As for the bushfires, I have not yet heard of any of our Church family directly affected. However, plenty of us have friends and family impacted or under threat. Thom Bull (lecturer at Trinity Theological College) and his family have been forced to evacuate, but their home is safe for the moment. Many others have lost their homes. Please continue to pray for all those affected, and all those fighting the fires. Thank you too for all the offers of help and support that have come to us. We are searching for an appropriate organisation through which we might funnel support.
LORD, be gracious to us;
            we long for you.
Be our strength every morning,
            our salvation in time of distress. (Isa 33:2)
In Christ,
Christianity Explored
An unexpected week of lockdown means there’s an extra week to invite and pray for people to come to our Christianity Explored course! Lord-willing, CE will kick off next Thursday evening, February 11th, 7:30pm at the church building. Feel free to email Tyler ( with any questions or to express your interest in attending.
St Matt's Kids
We enjoyed seeing many of our St Matt's Kids and Wombats back last Sunday! It was our first Sunday of using the Rosalie undercover area for St Matts Kid's and things generally ran well. We look forward in hope to having our wonderful St Matts Kid's leaders join us in full this Sunday as we launch back into our series in Mark’s gospel.
