St Matthew's Budget
Our Annual Meeting of Parishioners (AMP) is coming up next Monday night (June 14, 7:30pm). I do hope you can make it.
One thing I do want everyone to be aware of is Council’s proposed budget for the next year. Last year’s budget was set very conservatively, expecting things to be hard during a global pandemic. So we budgeted for giving to contract by at least 10%. This year we have restored some of that, and are budgeting for an increase of 11% on last year’s actual giving.

The chief reasons for this are to keep up with the costs of doing ministry, removing some inconsistencies in the staff salaries, and the need to catch up on some building maintenance that we have deferred over the last few years. Come and hear more about it on Monday night and don't forget to pick up an Annual Report this Sunday, or click the image to download the PDF.
Global Gospel Focus is the time during our year that we focus our attention on the global mission that Christ gave the church to make disciples in all nations.
Over the two Sundays of June 27th and July 4th  we will hear Bible talks on the topic of mission from guest speakers and hear updates from some of our mission partners.  Our preachers for those Sundays will be Fletcher Creelman (who is one of our Gospel Partners based in Bulgaria) and Mike Webb (who is the Missions lecturer at Trinity Theological College).
Please save the date of Wednesday 30th June at 730pm. Ben Smart will be speaking on the life and legacy of Eric Liddell, who was an Olympic gold medalist and a missionary in China for 20 years before his death in a Japanese prison camp.
We’re excited to welcome back two big ministry events in the coming months:

Medieval Mania (our holiday kids club for children in PP-Year 6)
Camping Ground (our camp for high schoolers in Years 10-12)

Save the dates and even start to pray for these events - more details to come soon!
Chris' Resignation and Farewell Picnic
Many of you would have heard the sad news on Sunday last week that Chris Roberts has resigned and will be stepping down from his position as youth minister of St Matthew’s.
Chris has served here at St Matthew’s faithfully for more than 6 years, and has an even longer history with the St Matthew’s family. Chris and his ministry will be missed. He has left his mark on a generation of our youth and youth leaders.
We plan to celebrate and thank Chris, Karen, Jonathan and Caleb at a Church picnic on June 27. This will be a wonderful moment to show our appreciation to the whole family, and I do hope you can all make it. More details soon.
If you would like to make a contribution to a gift for Chris please email
Community Lunch Wrap
There was a full house of 80 at the Prime Time Community Lunch, listening with rapt attention as Prof Arlene Chan AM presented on breast cancer, including a strong testimony to her Christian faith, which she said was her motivation in her field - whether researching and treating or helping those facing death. She regards her work not as a career but as a calling. The soup and dessert menu was appreciated by all, with many having seconds!

The Prime Time Community Lunches are open to all ages and St Matt's members are welcome to attend.  Coming up in the second half of 2021:
  • 3 September - Professor Bruce Robinson, founder of the Fathering Project
  • 5 November - Andrew Hastie MP, Federal Member for Canning
If you would like to know more about the lunches or anything else Prime Time, send us a message and we will put you in touch with the organisers.
Perth Women’s Convention is a day of Bible teaching for women, exploring the truth of God’s word, responding to him and thinking through how to live for Jesus.

No matter what age or stage of life, whether you’ve been a Christian for ages or you’re just checking it out, PWC is for you. Bring your mum, sister, colleague or Bible study group for a day of encouragement, music, interviews and much more.
