World Mission Update
29 January 2020
Coronavirus news - The Amity Foundation, China
Our partner organisation in China, The Amity Foundation, is helping in the fight against the new coronavirus. Since the outbreak they have raised over 10 million RMB (£1.1 million) for health equipment such as masks and disinfectants that have been sent to Wuhan.

The new worry is the spread of the virus beyond China, with cases being confirmed in a dozen countries across four continents. Schools in Hong Kong have been suspended for 3 weeks to keep children in their homes.
Please keep them all in your prayers

Prayers and fasting for peace in Nigeria
Our partner church The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria has directed all of its churches to comply with the recent Christian Association of Nigeria’s (CAN) directive for a special 3 day period of prayers and fasting from 31 January to 2 February.  This is response to the rise in killings in Nigeria and particularly the recent execution of Rev Lawan Andimi, the chairman of CAN, by Boko Haram.  We would encourage churches in Scotland to remember Nigeria in your prayers.

Our Mission Partners regularly write updates and some write blogs. Links to these can be found on our website.

This last month our Mission Partner in Israel and Palestine, John McCulloch, wrote an update, as did Joel Hafvenstein in Nepal and Keith and Ida Waddell in Zambia.

Fiona Kendall in Italy has written a moving blog post about remembering refugees and migrants whose lives have been lost on their desperate journeys.

"We may not know their names but we can make them more than statistics. The act of remembering reminds us that these are people, not numbers, every individual lost matching someone missing from a family and a community many miles away."
