CHOP Global Scientific Excellence Award, 10/14

CHOP-Multicultural Professionals Network (MPN) Youth Summit Call for Volunteers, 10/14

CHOP Research Community

The Multicultural Professionals Network (MPN) leadership team received a CHOP BEST grant through the Research Institute. The purpose is to host a youth summit event, in partnership with Big Brothers, Big Sisters (BBBS) to recruit minority high school-aged students interested in research or the health care profession. Additionally, they are partnering with multiple departments and divisions across the CHOP enterprise We are reaching out with the intention of gathering volunteers for a youth summit event taking place on Friday, October 14th, 2022.

They are also seeking diverse professionals who are interested in serving as mentors to the youth in our community on an ongoing basis through the Big Brother Big Sisters program.

Join us for an overview of CHOP’s individual and institutional COI policies, including disclosure, review and management. You will learn how to navigate these complex interactions through guided discussion and practical examples shared during the session.

The Research Integrity in Practice series is open to all members of the CHOP and Penn communities. The series offers practical advice and resources for navigating the real-world ethical challenges that occur in everyday research.

How to Give a Chalk Talk: Part I, 10/26

In the first of this two-part series, hear from two junior faculty on their process of constructing and preparing to give chalk talks as part of their academic interviews as well as one senior faculty who will provide insight to evaluating chalk talks from the perspective of a search committee.
The second part of the series will take place early in 2023 and feature an opportunity for postdocs to present Chalk Talks and receive feedback from both faculty and peers.

Full Time Faculty Position: Biology - DeSales University

Postdocs
The Department of Biology at DeSales University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Biology at the assistant professor rank with expertise in microbiology and molecular/cell biology to begin August 2023. The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. (or ABD) in Biology or closely related discipline at the time of appointment. Teaching expectations include contributing to our current offerings in Microbiology and Molecular/Cell Biology, as well as contributing to our biology curriculum and developing courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Cell and Gene Therapy Training Program - Applications Due 11/18

Program Overview
  • One-year training program comprised of didactic and experiential components
  • Delivers foundational knowledge of cell/gene therapy concepts
  • Provides firsthand exposures and mock sessions for the PRE-IND, regulatory, and auditing processes
  • Offers opportunities to shadow current leaders in cell/gene therapy
Program Dates:
Program meetings January – December 2023 on Tuesdays from 8 – 9:30 am
Shadowing occurs between May and December 2023
 
Eligibility:
Applicants must be a physician fellow, postdoctoral fellow, or instructor at CHOP

AWIS-PHL Mentoring Circle Program 2022-2023 Announcement

On behalf of the Association for Women in Science Philadelphia Chapter (AWIS-PHL), we would like to inform you that their popular Mentoring Circle Program will be starting its 2022-2023 cycle soon. The program aims to provide women in the early stages of STEM careers with mentorship and guidance on various aspects of professional and personal development. Click here for more details on the program.
