Update on Fladbury church
You'll have noticed the scaffolding on the roof of the church tower, which has meant a stonemason has been able to inspect the stonework sufficiently to say that the church is safe to open.
Repairs to the pinnacle, and to other stonework showing cracks, will commence soon. We are investigating possible means of access to the outward elevation of the southwest turret to both inspect and repair any damage that may be found there.
The church, and access to the main drive, will be closed while any work is being undertaken.
To reduce the need for people to go into the tower, the clock and bell ringing will remain suspended until work on the stonework, and work to replace some timber inside the tower, is complete. At other times the church will be open at the usual hours, and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday for the Remembrance Sunday Service at 10.15am, followed by the Act of Remembrance on the Green at 10.50am.
We were very grateful to receive £8,243 from July's Fladbury Walkabout. Thank you to everyone who contributed to its success. This sum is placed in the Fladbury Church Fabric Fund for the maintenance of Fladbury church building and fabric. Repairs carried out in the five years to 31st December 2021 totalled £32,243. Walkabout proceeds, donations, and fundraising has enabled such repairs to happen and has meant a good programme of planned maintenance keeps our Grade One listed building, with origins in the 14th century, in good condition. The cost for the current repairs is still not fully known.
