Fladbury Festive Five

Calling all bakers!

Jan Clarke writes:

Just a reminder that we need cakes for the Fladbury Festive Five run on 8th January.

If you plan on making a cake, we would like these on Saturday 7th if possible, unless you are actually coming to the start of the run.

I am collecting cakes so they can be brought to me at Silverdale, Broadway Lane (2nd house past Broadway Close) or I am happy to collect them.

Contact details are: 07542 747278 or janmclarke@gmail.com.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Spot Prizes

Lou Bugg:

I am collecting spot prizes for the run so any contributions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

News

An update on Fladbury Church tower and bellringing

A specialist stonemason with rope access has been appointed to undertake repairs to the church tower, and is scheduled to begin early January if the weather conditions are right. Once the repairs to the external stonework are complete, work to repair timber inside the tower will commence. Then the bells will be operational again.

The revival of a bellringing team at Fladbury and Cropthorne is good news. Thank you to everyone who rang for the Sunday service on the 18th December at Cropthorne. We look forward to many more occasions and a return to Fladbury. Thanks too, to bellringing coaches from churches beyond the Five Alive.

The Five Village Proms

Friday 10th March

Mark Buckwell writes:

A new date has been fixed for The Five Village Prom that had to be postponed from October due to the issues with the Fladbury church tower. It is now 10th March 2023 so please keep this date free. More information will be available in the New Year.

For those people who are still holding tickets for the October concert you are more than welcome to hold onto these and use them for the concert on the 10th March. If you can't make this date and/or would like a refund please contact whoever you got the tickets from and they will give you a refund. (If you bought through Eventbrite your refund has already been processed direct to the card you used to pay for the tickets.)

If you have any queries please contact Mark Blackwell at markblackwell96@gmail.com.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 10th March. Best wishes for a Happy New Year in the meantime.

Indoor Bowls

Sally Hutchinson writes:

Has anyone been wanting to start an indoor bowling group in Fladbury? It's fun, good exercise for the muscles & grey cells, and obviously involves walking, bending, etc.

Unfortunately there has been little use of the equipment by the "Games Café folk" on a Wednesday morning, especially since we came back from lockdown, as we are finding it rather heavy to get out and put back in it's bag. And also we are enjoying the board games challenges.

It seems a shame if there are other times in the week when a group may want to make use of the hall and this equipment.

Anyone interested in discussing this idea please contact Sally Hutchinson on 01386 861206. There are some minor repairs needed to the wooden frames used at each end (to prevent the bowls disappearing into the distance!!!! [or knocking down those exclamation marks, Ed.])

(P.S. we are unable to sell it as the items were provided under a Worcester County Council scheme).
