Planning Application
Ian Southcott writes (yesterday):
Planning application for 34 Units off Broadway Lane
As many of you will know, the above application was refused by Wychavon District Council's Planning Committee earlier today. The vote was a clear 8-1 against approval and against the officers' recommendation for approval.
I would like to thank Councillor David Day for presenting the Parish Council's objection, Sue Poultney for presenting the view of the 121 objections logged, and all of those who were able to attend the Planning Committee meeting. I would also like to thank District Councillor Tony Rowley, and District and County Councillor Liz Eyre for opposing this application at committee, and all those councillors who voted against.
The reasons for opposing this were all about sustainability and a large number of policy reasons. Fladbury is a Category 4 village meaning that it does not have the facilities to support more housing development principally because it has no bus service. The developer maintained the fiction that we are a Category 2 village amongst other somewhat dubious statements.
However, we may have won the battle but an appeal is a distinct possibility, so watch this space.
