The Gateway Scouting Team is adding a few team members and interns to our Scouting team. These are professional entry-level positions which will provide a variety of exciting opportunities to support youth programs in our area and support at Camp Decorah.   • Power of one recruiting – Each current Scout (Cub, Scouts BSA) who recruits another between October 9 – December 10 will be able to receive some exciting incentives:
    • $10 activity credit to be used at a future Cub Scout or SBSA event
    • One entry for each Scout recruited for a drawing for a $50 Amazon card. 3 cards will be drawn.
    • Earning the Recruiter patch to wear on their uniform - Just leave a note on the new youth’s application of who the recruiter was.

– Online Sales If you are late to the selling game, or looking to sell more to reach your goals it's not too late. Your scout can create an online account and sell to friends and family online through December 31st!

Training Updates –

Cub Scout Pow-wow November 6th at Camp Decorah.  Come and get some tips and tricks on how to put on events for your pack.  Send anyone who will being helping with your Blue and Gold, Pinewood Derby, or Dens throughout the year!  It is a fun way to learn how to easily plan and put on a strong event for your pack.  Questions please ask Lisa Stenslien ( or Margaret Karasek (  Registrations Closes Friday October 29th, need at least 10 leaders to run the Pow-wow.
Does your son or daughter have an interest in a career in law enforcement, firefighting, EMS, Medical, Aviation, or Engineering? Are the 14-21 years old? Then we have a neat opportunity for them to learn more about these careers in the Exploring Program that meet twice per month. Camp Host Program

Scouting volunteers are needed to help provide for an excellent weekend experience for Packs & Troops visiting Camp Decorah. The Camp Host is not expected to be knowledgeable in every area of camp. Being a friendly face, a good problem solver, and a passion for Scouting is all that is needed!   Find more information here:   We are looking for Camp Hosts to help out between January – March.

Council Recognition Event

Plans are still coming together but Save the Date of Tuesday February 8th for the annual Council Recognition Event!  Join together for Scouting fellowship and to recognize all the great things which have occurred in Scouting in the past year.
Save the Date Summer 2022 Programs!

We know that family calendars fill  up a long ways out so Save the Date for these exciting summer 2022 programs at Camp Decorah:
                NYLT: June 12-18
                Cub Scout Overnight Camp: July 5-7
                Webelos Overnight Camp: July 7-9
                Scouts BSA Camps (Sunday-Saturday: July 10-30
                Cub Scout 24HR Camp:  July 30-31
                Week Long Day Camp: August 8-12
No Scout Left Behind Fund

As we restart the Scouting year please remember that the No Scout Left Behind fund is available for requests of financial assistance.
This could be to assist with the Scouting membership / registration fee, to help family obtain a gently used uniform, or help a Scout get their handbook or attend a Fall event.

Visit to make a request.  Requests can come directly from a family or from the unit a family is a part of on their behalf.

Scout Executive Minute

 Are you a Den Leader?  Are you connected to someone else who is?  Encourage these persons to keep up the great work!  While families enjoy the activity portion of Scouting we know that parents & scouts like the content they receive in Den Meetings when the Cub Scouting resources & curriculum are followed.  There are many resources to help our den leaders out including those found here:
Of special help are the Scoutbook for Den Leaders program and the Cub Scout Den Leader Adventure videos found on that page.

e want to hear from you and see your Scouts in the news! This could be photos in the newspaper of your Scout's Eagle Project, a tv interview about your Pack's pinewood derby, a magazine article about your Troop's winter campout, or a social media blog post about your virtual Merit Badge day. We also will share something your Scout has done outside of Scouting, maybe their team won a state championship, or they were named team captain, or maybe they got recognized for inventing something or solving a community issue.  Share your highlights through out the year HERE.
