Life Members: Congratulations to Don Grant, Lorraine Warn, and Louise Young who were appointed as Life Members of Richmond Winter Club.

Club Bylaws: our governing bylaws were extensively updated to better reflect our new relationship with the City of Richmond, to revise our membership model, and also to bring us up-to-date with other recreational/sports facilities. Thank you to the membership for approving the revised bylaws after a good discussion. The document needs to be approved by the Registrar in Victoria before we can implement the changes, which should happen by end of the year.
Other Happenings:

Richmond Curling Club has gone to the dogs! Monday through Thursday evenings this fall we’ve opened the arena for a Richmond-based dog obedience trainer who has operated classes from puppies to advance training. If you have a dog who needs a bit of obedience training check out dogtrainershelley.com

Vaccine Clinic: Last Wednesday, October 27 Vancouver Coastal Health hosted a pop-up COVID vaccine clinic at our club which went very smoothly. We may host more in the future depending on VCH plans and facility availability.
Need a new purse? Saturday, November 20 from 11am-2pm Power of the Purse is hosting a pop-up purse sale at the club. All the best high-value gently used purses only $20 each. Net proceeds will be donated to the Richmond Food Bank.

Ice Plant Project Update

There were a few structural surprises uncovered during the excavation that needed to be addressed so its been quiet at the club for about 2 weeks while we await updates from the structural engineers. The project team anticipates moving forward very quickly once the new foundation is set. The very good news is that all the components for the plant have safely arrived at the contractor’s warehouse and are ready for installation as the work inside the plant room is completed. We are still on track to have the project completed on schedule and cautiously optimistic we'll have curing back on the ice by the end of January.
