    E-News Update 5/10/20

This Newsletter is intended to be a convenient way of sharing news and information that we think may be helpful or of interest to businesses in Minehead.

We are also keen to share information our members may feel other businesses might find interesting. Please send such items to info@mineheadbid.co.uk and, space permitting, we will try to include them in a future edition.

I have recently taken up the position of Company Secretary for Minehead BID and will be helping with some of the many administrative tasks that the board has to keep on top of, including this newsletter.

I'm looking forward to meeting members and working with you to further BID's aim to raise the profile of Minehead as a destination for both retail and tourism.

The new Step Up Somerset brand launch has now launched with a website www.stepupsomerset.org.uk  providing a one-stop-shop for individuals, employers and businesses seeking support and information in relation to employment, skills, careers and apprenticeships in Somerset.

The website signposts everyone to the help available across Somerset and is particularly at the moment for those who may be affected by Coronavirus and redundancies.  There is also a link via the coronavirus new phone number (0300 790 6275) which connects directly to the district councils via the call centres for anyone not able to access the web.

Updates from The Cabinet Office

Green Homes Grant

Homeowners in England can now apply for a £5,000 voucher to install heat saving measures in their homes, helping them save money and save the planet.

Wrap up your home this winter

Make your home warmer and your energy bills cheaper with a Green Homes Grant.

Homeowners in England, including landlords, can get up to £5,000 to pay part of the cost of energy saving measures like insulation. Low income households can get 100% of the costs of work covered up to £10,000.

Make sure you’re one of the 600,000 households who could save up to £600 a year on energy bills by applying today. Installing energy efficient home improvements also cuts emissions, which is better for the environment.

If you’re a tradesperson, make sure you’re eligible to carry out work under the scheme, which will support thousands of green jobs.

A reminder - Legal Duty to Self-Isolate
