Busy #

I'm not sure what's the real cause, but I've found myself so busy with meetings and obligations that I've put everything else on hold. It's not sustainable in any way, but I want to get on top of things and work on getting some more time next year. I've managed to find some time in the evenings for some pleasure reading, but that's about it.

Books I've read #

Become an Effective Software Engineering Manager by James Stanier. #

How to Be the Leader Your Development Team Needs

It's a great book if you want to get an introduction to management in general. It covers all aspects of management and gives you resources to read more about a particular topic. I can recommend it, even if only to better understand your manager.

Peak Performance by Brad Stulberg and Steve Magness #

Elevate Your Game, Avoid Burnout, and Thrive with the New Science of Success

A great read about effective learning and performance and how to make it sustainable.

Fantasy #

Elsewhere on the Web #

Failed SquadGoals. Spotify doesn't use "the Spotify model," and neither should you. #

Turns out, Spotify in 2012 had not figured out how to maintain the speed and nimbleness of a small team in a large organization. The company evolved beyond its eponymous model and looked outside of itself to find better answers. You should too.

Until next time,
Krzysztof Kula
