News from Pastor Kim
2/21/22
Greetings Friends!
There are some moments in life when I feel absolutely certain that I am where I'm meant to be. I had one of those moments when I read Wendy's column for this week (see below). It is humbling and gratifying to be used by God in this way.
Thank you to those that are praying for me this week! I feel like I'm running a gauntlet with conference that counts for credit, papers due, classes to attend, Family Promise Board meeting, and all of the usual pastoral activities. I wouldn't be able to do it all without being in prayer and being prayed for. Thank you!
Be sure to read all the way to the end of this newsletter. There are some schedule updates, event opportunities, and a picture of a very special birthday lady. I will close out my column with a shout out to another special birthday lady - my mom. Her birthday is "Twosday" 2-22. She wasn't born in 1922 though! Happy Birthday Mom! Love you!
Love God! Love Others! The End!
~Pastor Kim
You ~typically~ have three opportunities to worship with us each week:
9am Sunday - Welcome Corners: 3185 N M-43 Hwy, Hastings
11am Sunday - Hope: 2920 S M-37 Hwy, Hastings
Online - Facebook and YouTube: Hastings Hope UMC
"This is my prayer: that your love might become even more and more rich with knowledge and all kinds of insight. I pray this so that you will be able to decide what really matters and so you will be sincere and blameless on the day of Christ. I pray that you will then be filled with the fruit of righteousness, which comes from Jesus Christ, in order to give glory and praise to God."
Philippians 1:9-11 CEB

A Simple life in Christ
It is a beautiful reminder of our Father’s knowledge of us, when you feel a sermon was written just for you or what you’re experiencing. Today I spent time with two of my granddaughters, 14 and 10 years old. During our visit a comment was made about their rooms and the total mess they have become. We joked about it a bit then we discussed ways that they could organize their rooms, gather things to donate or sell, and develop better cleaning habits. I reminded them how very lucky they were to have all the things that they do. At dinner tonight, I was sitting with the 10-year-old listening to Pastor Kim’s message, “don’t hoard your treasures” her eyes got big as saucers, her cheeks red, she said “that’s me Grammy.” Together we finished the message and I have no doubt that she is up cleaning and sorting in her room as I finish this. Blessed is the child who felt our God speak to her today, Blessed is the child who knows God is watching her, Blessed is the child who learns her extras can bless the needs of someone else.

If the churches need to close in person worship due to weather we will advertise on WOODTV8 and on Facebook. There will still be online worship in some form.
During the week we will primarily advertise through Facebook and word of mouth. If the Hastings schools are closed due to weather, the church building will also be closed to all activities.
(Family Promise will make their own announcements regarding closure and won't necessarily follow this same guideline.)

This week’s HOPE/WELCOME CORNERS DISCIPLE is: Kaleb Micklatcher
Kaleb is the lead “Tech Guy” at Hope and has worked in the A/V booth since he was in his early teens. He is the third generation of the Miles Family to be a member at Hope and the fourth generation at the combined Hope/ Welcome Corners churches overall as his Great Grandma and late Great Grandpa Miles are/were members at Welcome Corners.
Kaleb has been proactive in finding and implementing new software and hardware for use in worship. His expertise allowed us to take worship online for those who have been unable to join us in person.
Thank you, Kaleb, for being our “Tech Guy” and for serving Jesus by sharing your gift of technical expertise with the Hope & Welcome Corners congregations!

As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Hope Church has supported five missionary families through our FAITH PROMISE giving for many years. Any monies received by the church that indicate they are for FAITH PROMISE are sent to our supported missionaries monthly. On behalf of our missionaries we thank you for continuing to give to FAITH PROMISE!
In addition to the FAITH PROMISE missionaries, we support a young woman, Faustine (Ghana), through World Vision and a child, Chandu (India), through Child Fund. Donations to these missions should be noted as World Vision or Child Fund on the offering envelope or on the “other” line when giving electronically.
