News from Pastor Kim
4/17/2022
Greetings Friends!
Wow, this week got away from me! Here it is late on Friday night and I remembered that I forgot (is that some kind of oxymoronic phrasing??) that I didn't send the e-news!
Resurrection Sunday was an action packed wonderful day. Some of you joined me at the Sonrise service and breakfast at Green Street. We then had a blessed service at Hope kicked off by the Hope choir singing Were You There?
Thank you to Jane Hesterly and Kim Hassevoort for the floral arrangements by the front door and to Phyllis Dipp and Maxine Henney for the cross shaped flower arrangement in the sanctuary.
We kicked off Easter weekend on Maundy Thursday, or Holy Thursday, with a celebration of the 3 year anniversary of Family Promise of Barry County (FPBC). FPBC has been living out Jesus' call to love our neighbor by making sure that all Barry County children have a safe space to sleep.
If you would like to help us love recklessly on our neighbors experiencing homelessness, we have several opportunities to volunteer in the Day Center: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050d4ea8ae22a5f94-fpbc.
Jesus' call to love recklessly also includes gathering together to remember and honor the night Jesus gave up His earthly life on the cross for our salvation. We did just that at Green Street Church on Good Friday. Thank you Mary Allyn and Tod Clark for participating in this service as readers.
Now that our Lenten Challenge based on the following quote from St. Augustine has wrapped up, we need assistance distributing our extras that were placed under the Blessing Tree. If you would like to help drop me an email or a text or give me a call. (pastorkimmetzer@gmail.com/ 269.223.9944)
“Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder which you do not require is needed by others. The extras of the rich are the necessities of the poor. Those who retain what is superfluous possess the goods of others."
Looking forward to worshiping with you this week!
Love God! Love Others! The End!
~Pastor Kim
You ~typically~ have three opportunities to worship with us each week:
9am Sunday - Welcome Corners: 3185 N M-43 Hwy, Hastings
11am Sunday - Hope: 2920 S M-37 Hwy, Hastings
Online - Facebook and YouTube: Hastings Hope UMC
"This is my prayer: that your love might become even more and more rich with knowledge and all kinds of insight. I pray this so that you will be able to decide what really matters and so you will be sincere and blameless on the day of Christ. I pray that you will then be filled with the fruit of righteousness, which comes from Jesus Christ, in order to give glory and praise to God."
Philippians 1:9-11 CEB

April 17, 2022 ~ Live...Love...Hope
We conclude this BE LOVE lent series by celebrating a beautiful Easter service. In the past weeks we have learned how best to glorify God and to best serve him. Easter is our reminder of how great and powerful he is.
As Colossians 1:15-23 tells us, GOD is # 1.
“Jesus is God. It was Christ who created everything. Everything means everything both that which we can see and that which we cannot see. He, Christ, created them. He was before all things meaning Christ existed before anything else. And He holds everything together. That is, it is Christ continuing work that keeps everything in existence. Christ is the creator and sustainer of everything.”
How blessed are we that he died for us, and only asked that we return the favor and bless others as he blessed us. Hallelujah

Have Blessed Week! - Wendy Elliott, Ministry Assistant

As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:12-14,17 (NRSV)
Pray without ceasing!

Hope Church has supported five missionary families through our FAITH PROMISE giving for many years. Any monies received by the church that indicate they are for FAITH PROMISE are sent to our supported missionaries monthly. On behalf of our missionaries we thank you for continuing to give to FAITH PROMISE!
In addition to the FAITH PROMISE missionaries, we support a young woman, Faustine (Ghana), through World Vision and a child, Chandu (India), through Child Fund. Donations to these missions should be noted as World Vision or Child Fund on the offering envelope or on the “other” line when giving electronically.
