News on SURFACE project

The Smart Reuse Park launched in Torun (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region) 

In November 2019, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region in Poland launched the first Smart Reuse Park under the name Repair Cafe Stajnia - Reuse Point.

Inhabitants of the region can visit the Reuse Point to repair damaged items with the help of specialists and leave there unnecessary things which will be repaired if necessary and sold. Thanks to that the unwanted items gain a second life.

Reusebox & G'scheit feiern project

The exchange of good practices is becoming increasingly important in Europe. Especially in the Interreg Europe projects - a sister programme of the Central Europe Programme - the exchange of experiences is in the foreground of activities. On the part of the Interreg Europe project WINPOL, Mr. Berthold Schleich, who also accompanies the SURFACE project in an advisory role, was invited to present two good practices from Styria at an interregional seminar in Antwerp last November

RREUSE Social and Circular Outlook 2020-2025 

RREUSE’s vision is a Europe that supports the role of social enterprise in the transition to a circular economy, prioritising activities in re-use and repair. Actions under the European Green Deal, Circular Economy Action Plan 2.0 and future Action Plan for the Social Economy must ensure a job-rich, just and inclusive circular transition focused on the wellbeing of all individuals

France to create a Solidarity Re-use Fund (and other re-use friendly measures)

Member States have until the 4th of July 2020 to transpose the updated Waste Framework Directive. After a final vote in the Senate on the 30th of January, France is now the first to validate its transposition law. Among other ambitious proposals, the text will trigger the creation of a Solidarity Re-use Fund, a re-use and preparing for re-use target, a ban on the destruction of unsold goods, re-use corners in municipal waste collection points and access to more information on the repairability and durability of electric and electronic products. RREUSE hopes that these measures will inspire other Member States

Exchange and fresh impulses at the RREUSE conference in Pamplona

The annual European Reuse Conference of the European umbrella organisation RREUSE is one of the most important events for the exchange of experiences and getting to know interesting implementation projects in the reuse sector. In November 2019 140 participants from 17 countries met in Pamplona
