NORA.startup officially launched!

Reaching another milestone for NORA, the ambitious NORA.startup initiative was officially launched through a digital kick-off on 29th September. More than 90 people representing academia, incubators and startup companies joined the digital kick-off, which featured exciting keynotes and discussions on how to promote and strengthen Norwegian startups in AI, machine learning and robotics

UiT Machine Learning Group published paper at the European Conference on Computer Vision 2020


The European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) is one of the premier conferences on machine learning where only the works of the highest quality is presented. This year only 26 % of the 5150 submissions made the cut, one of which was produced by the UiT Machine Learning Group.
 

Artificial intelligence reveals what is trendy in research


How to stay up to date on, not to mention familiarize yourself with, a field of study when hundreds of articles are published each year?

Researchers rely on recommendations from colleagues, newsletters and Google Scholar, a "Facebook for research." But perhaps there are more powerful methods for getting help with literature review?

University of Bergen - PhD position in Artificial intelligence for sustainable use of fish resources

There is a vacancy for a PhD position at the Department of Information Science and Media Studies. The position is for a fixed-term period of 4 years, of which 25% will be dedicated to teaching, supervision and administrative tasks at the Department.

The position will be in the project «Artificial intelligence for sustainable use of fish resources”. The project is a part of UoB’s strategic focus on marine research, involving cross-faculty cooperation.

University of Stavanger - Ph.D. fellowship in 5G Orchestration

The University of Stavanger invites applicants for a Ph.D. fellowship in 5G Orchestration at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The starting date of the position is as soon as possible. This is a trainee position that will give promising researchers an opportunity for academic development leading to a doctoral degree.

University of Stavanger - Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in 5G Orchestration

The University of Stavanger invites applicants for a three-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in 5G Orchestration at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The starting date of the position is as soon as possible.

The postdoctoral research fellow will work at the project 5G Management and Orchestration for Data and Network Integration (5G-MODaNeI) funded by the Norwegian Research Council (project no. 308909). Website: https://5g-modanei.ux.uis.no/

SIMULA/BI - Assistant Professor in Data Science

The Department of Data Science at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, Norway invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor. Applicants from any relevant field are welcome, with a preference for candidates with a background in machine learning, statistical learning, and/or artificial intelligence, including their applications. The appointment starts in the fall 2020/spring 2021. 

BI has initialized a close collaboration with Simula Research Laboratory, to strengthen their expertise on data science through research collaboration and the establishment of a new department and research center in data science, located at BI. The partnership aims at strengthening the link between statistical methodology and machine learning, and between algorithms and high-impact applications of particular relevance to society.

University of Stavanger - Research Fellow in Cognitive Data Analysis

The University of Stavanger invites applicants for a Ph.D fellowship in Cognitive Data Analysis at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The position is part of an interdisciplinary project within the Cognitive and behavioural neuroscience lab. This is a trainee position that will give promising researchers an opportunity for academic development leading to a doctoral degree.

The appointment is for three years with research duties exclusively, or four years with both research and 25% compulsory duties. This will be clarified in the recruitment process.

University of Bergen - PhD position in informatics - parallel computing/machine learning

There is a vacancy for a PhD position in informatics – parallel computing/machine learning at the Department of Informatics. The position is for a fixed-term period of 3 years with the possibility of a 4th year. The position is connected to the project “Enabling Graph Neural Networks at Exascale”, and financed by the Research Council of Norway.

University of Oslo - Associate professor in Image Analysis and Pattern Recognition/ Machine Learning

A full-time associate professor position is available in the Digital Signal Processing and Image Analysis (DSB) group of the Department of Informatics. The specialization is in the field of image analysis and machine learning. The department seeks a potential scientific leader with clear research visions, educational and administrative skills, and abilities to establish and lead research projects, who will strengthen our research and education within image analysis and machine learning.

Deadline: 18th October 2020

NORA is in the process of establishing a research school for PhD students at our partner institutions.  Membership is open for any PhD student with a project related to artificial intelligence, machine learning and/or robotics. 

Through membership in NORA Research School you will be able to create a unique network with peers at 9 of Norway´s leading universities and research institutions. You will also be the first to receive relevant information about and the opportunity to participate in courses, lectures and events.

The European Green Deal provides an action plan to
  • boost the efficient use of resources by moving to a clean, circular economy
  • restore biodiversity and cut pollution
The plan outlines investments needed and financing tools available. The EU aims to be climate neutral in 2050. Reaching this target will require action by all sectors of EU/EEA economy. LC-DG-10-2-2020 : Behavioural, social and cultural change for the Green Deal
LC-DG-10-3-2020 : Enabling citizens to act on climate change and environmental protection through education, citizen science, observation initiatives, and civic involvement
