Premier League, The FA and The Football Foundation


Game on! Three New Funds Announced! 

Return to Football Fund:

Grants up to £2,500 are available to support Disability Leagues, FA Women's National League Clubs, Professional Club Community Organisations, Charter Standard Clubs and Not-for-profit Community Organisations to restart or create new football activity.

Grass Pitch Maintenance Fund


The Grass Pitch Maintenance Fund is a new £14m fund created to help clubs enhance or sustain the quality of your grass pitches. Funding falls into two categories - enhance or sustain. Your PitchPower pitch
inspection (a requirement of the grant) will provide you with a Performace Quality Standard (PQS) per pitch - which will help them decide how much funding you'll be eligible for - and a list of maintenance recommendations which you'll need to carry out as part of your grant award.

Small grants

The small grants scheme offers grants up to £25,000 for items that will help support your club from the restart and beyond. Whether you want to score your goals in style with some new goalposts or need some new maintenance machinery to keep your groundsman happy.

Magic Little Grants

If you are a small charity or community group, and your an annual income is below £250,000 or in your first year of operation you can apply for a £500 grant. Magic Little Grants are available for groups to launch or strengthen their services. In 2021 funding can go towards any of these projects: 

 • Improving mental wellbeing 
 • Enabling community participation in the arts 
 • Preventing or reducing the impact of poverty
 • Supporting marginalised groups and promoting equality 
 • Improving biodiversity and green spaces
 • Enabling participation in physical activity 
 • Responding to the climate emergency and promoting sustainability 
 • Increasing community access to outdoor space 

Deadline: Applications are open from 1 March to 31 October 2021.

Comic Relief Community Fund - Capacity Building Grant
 

You can apply for a capacity building grant if you are a small local grassroots
organisation and would like funding to become more robust and better able to deliver
your project that brings about lasting community-driven change. Your project will
need to deliver on one of Comic Relief’s four strategic themes:
  • Children Survive and Thrive: Projects that support children up to the age of eleven to reach their potential and have the best start in life.
  • Fighting for Gender Justice: Projects that improve equality for women, girls and initiatives that help people affected by domestic violence, abuse or exploitation due to their gender.
  • A Safe Place to Be: Projects that support people who are rebuilding their lives because of homelessness or forced migration.
  • Mental Health Matters: Projects that support good mental health in communities improve access to support and tackle stigma and discrimination.

Sign up to be a we can move Changemaker and get access to free training and events, guidance, toolkits, podcasts, and tips and resources to help your enterprise, project, group, charity or club.  

Two Rivers Initiatives: Community Fund

If you are a constituted group or registered charity, you can apply for a grant of up to £5,000 to invest in your social and community facility. The Fund is looking for projects that:

• reconnect people who might otherwise suffer from isolation or exclusion
• improve the quality of life for people in their communities
• work with individuals and communities to support independent living
• tackle community safety issues and anti-social behaviour

Sport England: Return to Play Small Grants Fund

This fund will make awards, using National Lottery and government funding, of between £3,00 and £10,000 to help sport and activity groups, clubs and organisations respond to the immediate challenges of returning to play in a coronavirus-safe way. They ask that activity resumes within six weeks of national/local lockdown restrictions being lifted.

Central Social and Recreational Trust: small grants 

If you are an affiliated club or group who provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time for the benefit of disadvantaged children who are under the age of 21 years you can apply for a grant up to £1,000.

The Alpkit Foundation

This Foundation makes small awards to people, groups and schools that work to remove the barriers in getting outdoors and experience wild places. 

Community groups, schools and organisations that encourage people to get outdoors can apply for grants of £50 to £500.  
 

Deadline: Applications can be made at any time and are considered every two months.

Rose and Smallwood Trust - Women Thrive Fund

Grants between £15,000 and £40,000 are available to organisations who are working to enable women and girls to improve their mental health and wellbeing and/or improve their financial resilience.

They are also hosting a ‘how to apply’ webinar with Smallwood Trust to give potential applicants the chance to ask questions on March 18th, 1pm. Register here

Emergency loan funding is available to support registered charities and social enterprises working to improve people's lives in the UK that are experiencing disruptions or delays to their income or activities as a result of the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.
