May 2021

Welcome to the new edition of we can move news.

What a start to the year this has been. So much has happened and now we have much to look forward to, with the gradual lifting of lockdown restrictions.
Sport England have just released their latest report on levels of physical activity; which takes in to account the first eight months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Across England, there were a worrying number of people moving less than previous years. With an additional 1.2 million adults doing fewer than thirty minutes of physical activity a week. The report shows that Adults from Black and Asian backgrounds being disproportionately impacted. Find out more here.
In Gloucestershire, the picture is slightly better, with very little change in levels of inactivity. However, certain demographics are struggling more, particularly older adults and disabled people.

Here's a look at what else 2021 has brought us so far.

Active Communities Covid-19 Recovery Fund

The Active Communities Covid-19 Recovery Fund aims to reach community groups and local organisations, to minimise the impact of coronavirus on the activity levels of people from under-represented groups.
