March 16, 2021 ![]() Aren't All Wines Vegan? Trust but verify. These words may date back to the Cold War during the Reagan Era, but Carissa Kranz, founder and CEO of the world’s only ISO-sanctioned vegan-certification provider, would argue that they are no less applicable to today’s rapidly expanding food and beverage industries. She’ll be joining me on today’s “Office Hours” to discuss how consumers can be sure that when buying vegan, they are, in fact, getting what they’re paying for—often at a premium.
Vegan options in everything from clothing to food, spirits and wine— Oceano Chardonnay and Pinot Noir included!—are all the rage among a growing segment of consumers who are more focused on ethical and health considerations in what they put in and on their bodies, particularly during the Pandemic. The BeVeg! mark on a package or label provides assurance that the product is 100% vegan. This matters because labeling laws allow for a great deal of wiggle room for manufacturers to use “trace” or “insignificant” amounts of animal byproducts without losing the claim of being vegan.
I promise that you’ll be surprised at some of what Carissa has to say!
