IHAA WORLD GRAND PRIX COMPETITION
Congratulations are in order for our talented MAASA SA team who delivered some really good scores on competition day on 10th October, despite being two team members down.  The competition was divided into three stages, with three riders in each stage.  MAASA received permission to ride all three stages on one day.

A special mention needs to be made of Marli Jacobs and Jacques Horn - their scores during this competition were nothing short of outstanding. Marli shot a Raid score that is one of the highest junior scores in the world at this time, and Jacques shot one of the highest Tower scores in the world currently.

Stage 1 saw the Juniors  (Marli Jacobs, El-Rico Klemp and Jacques Horn) doing the Tower, Raid and Skirmish styles.  Jacques achieved a brilliant HA7 level on the Tower.   El-Rico rode his new horse Bumblebee for the very first time in competition - watch this partnership grow into something spectacular!

Stage 2 was the turn of the Senior ladies (Deirdre JvRensburg, Maretha Kruger), also shooting the Tower, Raid and Skirmish, with Marli Jacobs riding for Marna Wium who sustained a knee fracture while training just before the competition. Marli shot her first HA7 score on the Raid!! We are so proud of you Marli, well done!

Stage 3 saw the Senior men (Callie Kruger, Johan du Toit) on track in the Tower, Raid and Skirmish, with junior Jacques Horn riding a 2nd time (standing in for Jaco Jacobs)  and attaining his first ever HA8 competition score on the Tower. Well done Jacques, we are all very proud of you!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped, officiated, judged and organized the day, and a special thanks to Bekker Equestrian Academy for hosting the team and providing the delicious catering!

Deirdre JvRensburg deserves a special mention here - she did the bulk of the organizing of the entire competition, including the practice days and liaising with IHAA with the entries and results. This was a mammoth task to undertake in an already busy schedule.  Thank you Deirdre!

We wish Marna Wium a speedy recovery from her knee injury, she underwent surgery on the day of the competition and she and her family were not far from our thoughts.  Marna, take care of yourself, keep up the physio, stay strong and we all look forward to seeing you back on track when you have healed.

Now we wait for the rest of the 31 participating teams from 21 countries to finish their stages and submit their scores, before the official placings are announced. Keep an eye on our social media platforms for the announcements sometime early in November.
MAASA CLINICS in KZN
Now that we are free to move about between provinces, MAASA is pleased to announce that we will be hosting two mounted archery clinics in Kwazulu Natal at the end of October, at two different venues.
We look forward to welcoming KZN as a competing province in 2021!
ONLINE POSTAL MATCH #4
Please remember to get your entries in for the next postal match before the closing date on 31 October 2020.
There are two formats to choose from, depending on your facilities, or you can enter for both.
Good luck and have fun!
SANESA NEWS
Its been undoubtedly a bitterly disappointing year for our SANESA riders, who have been unable to compete in SANESA qualifiers due to the Department of Education not yet having issued permission for school sports to resume.  The focus now is on getting through the academic year, and we wish all our young riders the very best for the final exams, we know this has been a tough year on you all, but we also know you will overcome the challenges, because you are warriors!

Speaking of next year, we are planning some exciting changes for the 2021 SANESA season, and are awaiting final approval from the SANESA National office, after their AGM in November. So kids, hang in there - next year will more than make up for this year!
