NEWS:  SA Mounted Archers abroad
Father and daughter team Jaco and Marli Jacobs recently travelled overseas to compete in the 5th Gauchoux International competition in Peyrat de Bellac, France.  They competed in three disciplines - Hungarian, Asian and Hunt (Polish) tracks, against many of the top mounted archers in the world. Despite a tack malfunction in the Hunt event (bridle and horse parted company), Marli achieved an overall 20th place, which is quite remarkable considering the level of archers she was competing against. She was ranked 6th amongst the junior entrants. Jaco had his hands full with a very fast horse, and managed an overall 33rd place in the competition (27th ranking in the senior division). MAASA would like to congratulate these two exceptional riders, we are very proud of your performances.
As you read this, Jaco Jacobs and Daniel Griffins are winging their way to Budapest, Hungary, to take part in the International Judges meeting and Kassai Horsearchery Open World Cup in the Kassai Valley. We wish then safe travels, and a successful competition!
ANNOUNCEMENT: Communication Policy
"The single biggest problem with communication is the illusion that it has taken place" - ~ George Bernard Shaw

With the growth of MAASA as an organization, and the limited time the committee (and especially the EXCO) has to accomplish the many tasks required of it, communication with our members has become a top priority.  In order to facilitate effective, efficient communication, we have implemented a new communication process which we would like to share, and we appeal to all our members to familiarize themselves with the process, and to follow this format  and make use of the channels created for this purpose.
Any questions or issues from our members need to be addressed to the relevant provincial representative, or the National Athlete's representative (either by email or phone), who will then take the matter up on behalf of the member with the relevant council member.  Feedback and prompt resolution of matters will be greatly simplified by this process, and we would highly appreciate everyone's cooperation.
Please visit our website and click on the Contacts tab to find email addresses.
We are almost done with all our SANESA qualifiers in our three participating provinces, with only the FS and NW still to hold one qualifier each.  Once these qualifiers are completed, we will await the announcement of the teams for SANESA Nationals.  Please note:  SANESA Nationals will be held at Misty Meadows on 24th September - this is a public holiday (and during the school holidays), so please bring your family and friends to support our SANESA riders. We are very excited to be holding our Nationals at Misty Meadows this year, as there will be SANESA riders from all over South Africa who will be gathering for other disciplines' Nationals, so this is a great opportunity to expose new riders to the sport for the next season.  See you there!
