#Girlpower

We are all very proud of our G16A team for being runners up in the Football NSW, State Cup Final.

Their success was the culmination of a number of years of hard work and time invested by them and many members of the club.

Back when they were playing in the G12s the team had been struggling to win games, but with time, patience, and fantastic parental and club support, they became a force to be reckoned with. Well done team!

Read more about it in this Facebook post.

Mimosa Oval & Norman Griffiths Oval

Recently members of the WPFC Committee met with Council and the NSFA to discuss an update on the Mimosa Oval artificial pitch upgrade and the Norman Griffiths Oval natural turf upgrade. Council confirmed that community consultation was expected to commence in August 2019 which will provide club members and members of the community with the opportunity to provide feedback. Once the consultation period opens, we will advise members and encourage them to send submissions to Council in support of the project.

In the meantime, Council are arranging for a Geotechnical investigation as well as further environmental assessments to be completed. Council advised that, barring major delays, the Mimosa artificial pitch is on track to be installed and usable by the end of 2020. The Norman Griffiths Oval natural turf upgrade will commence after the Mimosa artificial pitch installation is completed. If anyone has any questions on either project please email Kevin Johnson at president@wpfc.asn.au

Premier League
Our Mens Premier League squad have enjoyed a successful season albeit they have fallen short of defending their Premier League titles in both grades.

Reserve grade have successfully welcomed a number of new players to the squad and the team has performed strongly; they currently sit mid-table in a tough competition. Special mention to player/coach Marc Tarring who will ensure that the squad remains strong and competitive in 2020.

The first grade have been about the top of the table all season.  They have been extremely consistent and are in contention for finals; they currently sit in third place. Coach Alex Dimos has the team performing at a high level which was demonstrated in their recent 4-1 cup quarter-final win against Lindfield and they are well placed to continue the club’s proud tradition of successful performances in the cup.

Our Womens Premier League team have made an outstanding start to the club’s first Womens Premier League campaign. Under the coaching of Jono Tatt they are currently in fifth position. They have found some form in recent weeks, backing up a strong 4-1 win against UTS with an impressive 3-0 win against Turramurra last Sunday. The squad is already talking about strengthening and preparing for next season where they hope to make an impact in the top half of the competition.
