not ready for what was coming in June, and still we took you off your guard! The Mix has turned 1 in the most original and unique way and this couldn’t passed unnoticed!
Many of you have entered The Jungle with us from June 18th to June 26th and it was an amazing experience.
Our vision is the source of our inspiration, it is our foundation. “Art in The Jungle” has materialized part of this vision of seeing young African creators flourish (Larry Jay, Yidana Collections and Planterina), by supporting one another and proposing things that embrace our core values, such as sustainability, community wise initiatives and aesthetic. Not only this installation was the occasion to put the spotlight on these young creatives, but also to raise awareness and have this conversation about how the African fashion industry can continue its development whilst implementing measures, in the process of creating (designers) and consuming (customers).
Nuel Bans (founder of DEBONAIR AFRIK), Christy Ukata (Content Creator & Media Personality) & Akuvi Adjabs (Freelance Fashion Writer) lead the audience through this art / fashion talk. Their share their point of view and gave some tips to the public whom interrogations were more solution-oriented. We were glad to see how engaged and concerned the audience was. This was even more obvious when the panelist made us understood that, beyond the political aspects, what will definitely make an impact is actually the actions that we, as individuals, will take, out of self-awareness and from our will to be educated and educate others on the topic and ways to challenge, the current degraded state of the environment.
Here is a sneak peak of “Art In The Jungle” for those of you who couldn’t make it and for those of you who wanted to keep the record of this memorable project.
